Is It Just Me, Or Do You Feel Like You Know Obama Better Than You Know Bush?
Edited on Mon Nov-17-08 07:25 PM by Magic Rat
I mean, we've all lived with Bush in our lives every day for the past nine years (going back to his campaign against Gore). I feel like in those nine years I really haven't gotten to know the guy to say that I "get" him.

Obama, on the other hand, is a guy I didn't even know existed until four years ago, and hardly knew anything about until two years ago. Now I feel like he's a member of the family. I think I know more about him than I do actual members of my family.

That's weird.

Even going back to Clinton, I feel like I kinda "got" who he was. With Bush it's totally different. He's more like a stupid drunk guy who sits next to you on a long plane ride. You've heard him speak for a long time, you've gotten to kinda know him, but you don't really "know" know him.

Know what I mean?

1. Honestly, Obama is the only president I ever wanted to know...
sad but true. I just went "FUCK IT" When Bush was elected. I knew he would destroy the country. Clinton years were good but I was young and uninvolved.

2. It helps that he's written about himself.
I have a hard time envisioning what a book actually written by Bush would look like.

3. No, I think I can predict Bush better.
Obams is a consumate politician; the persona he presents gives no real clues about what the man underneath is really like.

And while I can often guess what policy Bush will take on a given issue, it's too early to predict Obama.

4. I don't feel like I know anybody unless I talk to them in person
The feeling that one knows any famous person one has never met is always conjecture.

I think you know Bush as well as Obama or Bill, it just that you don't want to.

5. Fuck, yeah.
Nearly everything * ever said is a lie. Lies from ivory-tower elitists who'd never associate with us--whose isolation is decades old--tell us nothing.

All we know is that * is much, much wealthier than we are, and is determined to keep it that way.
