This is what Obama's Cabinet should look like.
If Hillary must have a role, it should not be as SOS. She is not qualified nor does she have the experience or temperament necessary to be SOS. John Kerry should be SOS, he has the well rounded background, years of experience and knowledge for this position. Please read this Hill piece shows the promise and needs necessary to move our country forward.

"The president-elect will choose his war Cabinet with multiple wars and a military suffering extreme damage to readiness, requiring a substantial and costly rebuild.

I would advise a war Cabinet tapping officials with decades of experience and a high number of veterans in top positions. Those in high diplomatic posts would have extensive military experience. Those in high military posts would have extensive diplomatic skills in a Rooseveltian war Cabinet of interchangeable, mutually supportive parts, such as:

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) at State with New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) and Dr. Susan Rice as undersecretaries with upgraded roles. Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) at Defense, with current Secretary Robert Gates remaining for six months as undersecretary. Former Sen. Sam Nunn (D-Ga.) as national security adviser. Retired Gen. James Jones as national intelligence director. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) as Homeland Security secretary, with current Secretary Michael Chertoff remaining as undersecretary."

1. i want Kerry to have a few more years in the Senate
we finally have a majority with a Democratic President. i want him to be able to pass the things he has worked on for years.

maybe he can be sec of state during Obama's 2nd term.

remember sec of state's usually serve 4 or less years. do you really want Kerry to serve 4 years and then be out of office ?

11. Yes, and it could be eight. He would serve this country better as SOS.
It would be a great achievement for him. He will not accomplish much in the senate- a few hearings, a few bills, but no real recognition or respect that has alluded him. Who even knows if Obama will have a second term. SOS, would be a great way for him to go out. If he was so content in the senate he wouldn't have run for president in the first place. I suppose we will have to just agree to disagree on this one-better to go out with some glory than just fade away.

29. why? It makes no sense. It doesn't benefit him really and us very little.
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 12:02 AM by wisteria
Why would you want to hold this man back from great things? I obviously do not agree with you. Did you have objections to him becoming president too- simply so that he could remain a senator? Or perhaps you are pushing for someone less qualified for SOS.

42. People want Kerry to go away because he'll embarrass Obama
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 12:37 AM by politicasista
Cause you know he is and would be a boring, no people person, gaffe/error prone speaking SOS in front of foreign leaders right? :sarcasm:

No one else would never do that. :sarcasm:

They want him to be marginalized and ignored and just be just another Dem senator. :sarcasm:

and make him every cabinet member.

And the chef at the White House.

And the guy that greets you at the gate.

Think about Kerry cloned in the Senate: Withdrawal from Iraq passes in 2006 and Alito and Roberts never get confirmed to the SCOTUS.

edited typos.

You seem to dismiss the diplomatic experience for the leading American Diplomat. I want to know if you would say the same things about Albright as you are Richardson now.

Quite amazing how he biefed-up foreign policy profile that Mark Penn created for Clinton has captured the public imagination -- even though it is largely fictitious.

27. Obama needs to ask himself what does the media know. They went along with Bush and lead us into a
war full of lies. Obama is suppose to be our leader- he is suppose to be beyond media manipulation- especially Clinton media manipulating. I voted for him because I thought he was a real leader with vision. Following the media direction is not leadership. I would hope Obama is better than that. If you are concerned, google change.gov and tell him how you feel.
