14. I don't have to agree with some of his choices, if that's OK with you. |
|
I'm disappointed that he seems to be choosing his SoS based not on philosophy or knowledge or expertise or managerial competence, but for political reasons, and I was hoping not to have to watch the daily cable news reports of "what Bill and Hillary said today, and what is Obama going to do about them?"--the way it was during the election, when they were supposed to be supporting him and keeping a low profile. I think he's making a mistake here, taking that Team of Rivals shit a little too far. I hope he makes better selections for the other cabinet positions.

I voted for him because I trust his judgment. If I didn't trust it that wouldn't say much about my own judgment.
He has more information about how this thing will presumably work than we do. Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt here...

Let's just talk about how happy every decision Obama is going to make over the next eight years is going to please all of us.
In fact, let this stand as the last post on DU. We'll just add to it to reaffirm our faith in Obama.
Obama is the President-Elect. I support him. I trust him to make informed decisions. I don't expect to agree with everything he does. I didn't agree with his vote against Kerry-Feingold. He found his way to supporting a deadline for withdrawal. I didn't agree with his FISA vote, I accepted it. I hope he finds his way on that too, I believe he will.

for the past 10 years, I've been living my life... with my main focus on raising my kids, working my jobs, going to grad school... and following the politics when I have some spare time
and Barack has spent the past 10 years... right in the thick of politics...
actually knows all the players being considered in real life...
has what I perceive (from reading his books and reading about his life) a brilliant mind, a cooperative work ethic, and a viable vision for this country...
and after watching what he was able to create in his Presidential campaign...
I think I'm going to trust him to put together a workable cabinet.

I've watched him long enough to be convinced he knows what he's doing - WAY more than I do. I'm no longer a big fan of the Clinton's, but if the rumor about SOS is true, I still have no doubt that Obama knows exactly what he's doing.
As Bill Maher said, he's always been two steps ahead of everyone else, and it's worked out pretty well so far. I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what he's doing, and why - although I'm not privy to his reasoning, I do trust the man.

This country and all those allowed into power are owned by the corporations and the MIC. Nothing will take place that these entities don't approve of. So all this bullshit about this person or that person being appointed to this or that is just that and it won't matter in the long run. The US will continue to kill and maim brown people in the "developing" world, the only difference will be that more people on DU will cheer it on...

To listen to DUers around here, you'd think that Obama was just some guy who we'd never heard of who showed up three days ago, and didn't have a record as long as your arm. I hope like hell he doesn't pick Hillary for SoS, but that doesn't change the fact that 95% of the criticism here, swirling around every rumor of anything, is wildly overamped paranoia and temper-tantrum material.
