CNN: "Obama and Hillary are optimistic about working out SoS position for her"
Possibly within next week.

Sounds like an offer to me.

Live on CNN. No link.

1. CNN is probably making up crap to fill their snooze day
I don't believe a thing from CNN. They are chuck full of neocon rejects now. What the hell is Steve Hayes doing at CNN? It's absurd.

6. I also heard on CNN that Santa Claus is thinking of naming Mickey Mouse as a Deputy Policy Advisor.
In the words of the great urban philosopher Chuck D, "Don't believe the hype."

19. As president one cannot be worried about every little group
Not to say one has to be as dumb as Bush was with what people wanted but you cannot kowtow to every little thing every group wants.

17. Of those named, Richardson is the best choice
At this point, I am putting no weight on the Clinton rumors no matter what their source. You can't keep people from hoping, or wishing or speculating about such things; nor keep those under consideration from doing bold moves to jockey for their desired position.

CNN also reportedly heavily that Clinton was going to be Obama's VP back when she was one of the contenders for that as well. Same deal - speculation, even CNN pretending to do "solid reporting" means absolutely nothing.

Obama will do what he thinks is best, and he doesn't strike me like the kind of guy who is influenced whatsoever by these kinds of mind games played by the position's contenders. I like that about him. So I will wait and see - I'd be surprised if he picked Hillary for this position. There are others that she may be better suited for - she won't shine as SOS, so why not use her somewhere else where she will be a valuable asset, instead of this?

7. I wish CNN would just shut up already

Obama isn't leaking anything, so who is? The Clintons? If that's the case, then
that alone should disqualify her for the post.

14. Obama & His Team Are NOT In The Business Of Denying Rumors And Idle Speculation
it simply gives power to those involved in spreading the nonsense.

13. and yet one unnamed source on Politico was good enough to believe yesterday
that Obama people were EXASPERATED with the Clintons? I am all for not putting too much faith in unnamed sources, but anti-Hillary folks on DU should at the very least show some consistency here. If you want to kill messengers and distrust unnamed sources just please do it across the board, not selectively only when the message and any given unnamed source do not sit well with your particular bias.

16. I've posted many times over the years on DU about not believing bullshit from Mediawhores
And I am not "anti-Hillary".

My assessment of her suitability for the job of SoS is based on an unemotional and valid assessment of her pros and cons.

12. I think Hillary would do a good job but
I hope the 'Bosnian sniper fire' episode won't come back to bite her.

I would prefer her in health where she started something good.

Latest on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
November 18, 2008 8:08 AM

ABC News has learned that serious progress has been made on the notion of a Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

It is not yet a done deal, but sources say both President-elect Obama and Sen. Clinton are increasingly optimistic that her assignment will happen.

And some Democrats say it could happen as early as in the next week.

I don't see any actual people quoted. The media is looking for a story and the mindless rubes are giving it to them.

23. Good for them. Maybe some of the silliness around here will dissipate.
For people who professed to support Obama so wholeheartedly, it has been amazing to see how many
DUers don't trust his judgment on making appointments for his administration.
