. . .he had to sweat his ass off, he had to beg, he had to plead.

LOL and when the press just asked for a statement from Lieberman Reid wouldn't let him answer. . .LOL

Lieberman moved up to speak and Lieberman said he could speak later.

Reid is slapping him around to the press right now. . .LOL

Do you think he is popular? Do you think he knows he is on borrowed time?

The next chance to do that is 2010 and 2012
that's when they are assigned during the time in between
the republicans can filibuster it.

39. Not for the R's. The Dems would need one to cut the filibuster off.
"It takes a Senate resolution to change a chairmanship, and that resolution could be subject to a filibuster," Paone told the Huffington Post. Put simply, under Bayh's proposed scenario, Republicans would have every reason to filibuster a new Senate resolution taking Lieberman's chairmanship away if he was proving an effective antagonist of President Obama.

59. It's not about vindictiveness.
Joe has been chairman of Homeland Security committee since the mid-term elections of 2006. Since that time he has done zero oversight of the Bush cabal. Bush uses "homeland security" as a cover for no-bid contracts and moving money from the taxpayers to his friends & family. It was Joe's job to handle the oversight. He held no hearings and asked no questions. He didn't do his job.

So -- given what he did during the campaign -- and add the fact that he hasn't performed in his committee chairmanship, there is absolutely no reason to allow him to keep it... none.

28. And just because he's the chair doesn't mean he has full control
Remember it was Obama that wanted us to take the high road. This whole Lieberman thing has become petty.

But here's something I remember about Jefford's last day as a republican. One of the things he talked about in an interview he did was TIME magazine was how the republicans weren't even going to him for committee work (I believe it was Education) but instead were going to the 2nd chair, which was Gregg of New Hampshire. There was some 'Teacher-of-the-year' award that would normally be attended by the committee chair but Jeffords wasn't even told and they sent Gregg instead.

The thing is, if Lieberman doesn't do what we want it's not like we're fucked. Inouye is 2nd in command and could easily do the job too.

But like the OP person stated - it's fun seeing Lieberman being slapped around and humiliated. If Lieberman had a set of balls he's say 'Fuck You' to the dems and pull his association. The fact that he's begging for his job, personally I find hilarious as hell.

"Reward your friends and leave your enemies' corpses to rot in the sun." This "enemies closer" bullshit is just an excuse to show the peasants that they are not in the same league as the bosses. These guys use our anger and our pain for their own ends and when they don't need us any more, we are told to run along and don't get in the way. It is the same all the time and it gets old...

You'd think that after the election, the Democrats would be bold enough to force this interloper and charlatan out of power. It is disgusting that they kept this man in despite all he's done.

I believe that the vote was cynical. And it was inevitable that some deals were made to keep this two-faced cheat.

I won't bring up how there are similarities in the nomination of "another person" to a highly coveted position, but what I will say that there is something rotten in Washington.

Enough is enough. :grr:

I'm convinced that the vote was secret so that the constituents could not find out who voted for what.

There is no leash. He owes President Obama nothing. He owes Harry Reid nothing. He spends a press conference pretending he's sorry for his actions, and when it's over, he gets EVERYTHING HE WANTED.

There is now literally, and legally, no practical recourse if Lieberman decides to open hearings into whether President Obama is secretly funneling money to Al Qaeda. His chairmanship cannot be revoked after the fact, even if it wouldn't be a public relations nightmare to attempt to revoke chairmanship 'just because he dares independently exercise his independent independentness and ask the tough questions about Obama's Al Qaeda connections'.

I can't understand the humor involved in rewarding Joe Lieberman for kicking us in the teeth...again...

67. That's not enough.
He needs to suffer for what he did.

75. "He needs to suffer"?
Yeah, they should have sent a couple of guys with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch around to his office. "Suffer". Christ.

71. So what you are saying is that now he has
free reign to go campaign for Chambliss. I expect no less of him.

76. Bullshit.
Not to be rude. But LIEberman knew he'd come out OK because our party, unfortunately, with the exception of Obama and a FEW others, lacks cojones.

I don't see why it is so fucking important to keep him "in the fold" because he will vote as he sees fit anyway. Any Dem who expects any kind of loyalty from him has their head up their ass.
