Given that the DLC's principal argument for supremacy within the Democratic Party has always been that their strategy could finally compete against the Republicans in fund-raising (McAuliffe actually bragged about our "victory" in 2004), I would like to point out that Clinton came closer to Kucinich in fund-raising this election than to Obama. And had Howard Dean not dropped out early in 2004, he'd probably have had similar fund-raising results versus Kerry.
They have not only been defeated in fund-raising two presidential elections in a row, but they finished so far behind this election (by more than 5-to-1), I don't think their efforts could even rank them in 1st tier category any longer. Heck, Gravel, Barr and Paul were closer in absolute numbers to Clinton than was Obama.
I reassessed my support of the DLC after 2004. And I am pretty happy with my decision to move on, and with the results for the Democratic Party since the DNC ousted the DLC from control in 2005.

5. I was trying to be nice by not mentioning the DLCs electoral failures. |

Decades of House control lost after only two years of DLC in power. Lost a majority of state legislatures and governorships in their first decade in power. And their strategy lost two straight presidential elections before finally being defeated in the primary this year.
As for my personal evolution on the DLC, I became a supporter when it worked, and abandoned them after the 2004 debacle. In fact, my DLC/anti-DLC timing perfectly matches their gain/loss of control of the party in 1992/2005. So I guess I pretty much have the same opinion as the majority of the DNC.
You see, I reassess my stance at least every four years. My support for the DLC was pretty strained going into 2004. In fact, my support in 2004 went from Kerry to Dean before I flirted with Clark then wavered between Kerry and Dean before settling on Dean. I didn't think of Dean as the anti-DLC candidate at the time. I just always wanted to vote for a pro-gun Democrat for President! But it was no big deal when he lost.
If you haven't done so already, maybe you should reassess your position on the DLC.
