The Senator speaks to reporters following his colleagues' decision to http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1860302,00.html">keep him in the caucus, remain Homeland Security Committee chair.

Expresses regret for some of the negative things he said about Obama during the campaign, says "this is a new chapter."

And/But: He is stripped of his subcommittee seat on Environment and Public Works, remains on Armed Services.

1. Bizzare

Lieberman is off the Environment sub-committee, an issue he has been a staunch Liberal...but stays on Armed Services where he can keep clucking like a hawk.

I understand the smart political play here, but Holy Joe continues to bask in his omnipotence.

2. Just a "slap on the wrist! It would have been more appropriate if they removed him from the Armed
Services Committee at the very least but a minor sub panel? Sheesh.

6. Obama needs to dissolve the HSA post haste.
it never deserved to live in the first place. it is unneccessary & creeping fascist in its conception.

leaving holy joe without anything to chair over will just be an added treat.

A lot of people who are livid about this development never seem to give it a thought that Obama is thinking much further ahead in the game than being a reactionary.

There was a lot of kvetching and hand-wringing throughout the campaign whenever he made a move - and look where he is now.

Obama doesn't strike me as the type to let someone say the shit that Lieberman said about him and get away with it.

I don't like to see Lieberman even THINK he's dodged a bullet, but if it serves a higher long-term goal in Obama's plan, then we'll have to wait and see.

I'd love for Obama to dismantle the Office of Homeland Security. It wouldn't be direct retribution, but a legitimate move in the name of repairing our commitment to the Constitution. There'd simply be nothing for Lieberman to chair.

In the meantime they can track Lieberman's every vote and make sure he's accountable when his next senate term comes up. There's probably a more sophisticated plan for ol' Joe than that.

10. I'm sure the military/industrial complex will be happy...
so they can continue sucking the life blood out of this country with Holy Joe in position to keep the war racket profitable.
