One Little Bone, just one little bone is all I wanted.....
as a lifelong dem and a relied upon core base voter that has stood in line and voted dem for the last 32 years, I have asked for very little. I've never missed an election. I stood in line to vote for Al Gore for four and a half hours knowing the importance of that particular election year. I stood in line and voted for John Kerry when I had campaigned my heart out for Howard Dean. I was an early supporter of Barack Obama and have been a loyal, steadfast worker for his election in the primaries. As hard as it would have been, I would have gone to the polls and cast my vote for hillary clinton if it would have come to that. I've always been loyal to the dem party.

I haven't participated in any of the flame wars here concerning hillary clinton for SOS. I really don't want her as sos, but I decided if Obama thinks she is the best sos for the country, then so be it.

This Lieberman thing, a whole 'nother story. I feel like I have spent the last eight years as a victim of two stolen elections. I've had to watch the constitution get turned on it's head, torture being adopted as a national past time, illegal wiretapping, the patriot act, an immoral and illegal war waged on a sovereign country that had nothing to do with 9-11.

All I've asked from my party in years, is just throw me one little bone. And that was on this day, to have Joe Lieberman stripped of his chairs and give him the more than fair choice to make up his own mind as to where his own loyalties lie.

I can only say that I am very disappointed right now.

30. Unfair comparison to Judas
...from most accounts, Mr. Iscariot was actually working for what he thought was his people's best interests and was consumed with doubt and guilt over his actions.

Holy Joe has no such redemptive qualities.

it doesn't look like Obama is moving
in the right direction.

I think I will "MoveOn"...

5. Why is it that our party play the "get along card"
with everyone, including republicans, meanwhile republicans are stabbign us in the back? Does Barack seriously think republicans will not going to give him a fight in 2010 for the mid-terms elections? They have already started. Why is it that we are the only ones that scream Party Unity, blue states, vs. red states, all of us together, meanwhile, republicans don't give a shit about our side or democrats at all?

When will we learn? When will we have a party that fights with tooth and nails to defend our ideals, platform and beliefs?

I am SO FUCKIGN FUMING RIGHT NOW!..

6. I went to the change.gov site and sent an email under "other"...
I just had to vent. I understand bi-partisanship and all that crap but I hate to think it's going to be business as usual. Lieberman is a fucking rat and he should have been tossed. He cannot be trusted and what message are we sending if he's allowed to just do what the fuck he wants and still be a dem or independent or what the fuck ever! I'm pissed!!

admire your loyalty. If only the party reciprocated. I agree 100%.
And I'm not too thrilled about Hillary Clinton as SOS either. And I almost voted for her in the primary.

MEMO

FROM: AIPAC

TO: Any Democratic Senator

Nice little Senate majority you've got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.

Have a nice day.

19. Because many of us that campaigned our brains out, walked...
neighborhoods and knocked on doors weekend after weekend, made phone call after phone call, gave money even when it became a real financial strain and remained LOYAL to the democratic party for decades, think that lieberman should not get a pass for his DISLOYALTY to the dem party over and over again.

I accept it today. It's politics. I don't have to like it, but I will nevertheless accept it.

20. That can't be the only reason for doing all that work
You did it just so Lieberman would get put down somehow?

That would have been unwise anyway. That's no reason to campaign for a candidate, especially if he did not have a specific plank in his platform of: "And I'm going to make sure Lieberman gets his."

Obama is not a negative person, and that's a negative goal. Surely there is something else to be happy about.

23. OF COURSE NOT I did it to advance the democratic party ...
and it's policies and goals. I have always gotten involved in politics both on the local level and the national scene. Believe me, the ouster of joe lieberman was never on my mind when I was shivering in the cold knocking on doors or had the phone slammed up in my face a dozen times in a night. I just kept thinking, I've got to work harder to achieve our party goals. Trust me, joe never crossed my mind during those times.

And by the way, my OP does not slam Obama, it was a senate decision to not strip him of his HLS chair.

21. We needed Lieberman. Believe it or not, Lieberman will be able to
deliver McCain and other moderate Republicans to vote with the Democrats.

Wait and see, that is what is going to happen. And Obama is smart enough to know that.

Someone once said "politics makes strange bedfellows".......now you can see what they meant.

26. Well said. K&R.
The Democrats better watch out. In moving to the center, they might just leave their base behind. No matter what, I'm in favor of a third party. When you think about it, the left and right seem so far apart on the issues and yet, they really don't govern that way. It may be politics, but maybe it's just two party politics.

I am sure that in order to stay they castrated him up and down and he will soon be finished when he tries to run again.

It is politics and there will be compromises. We will be getting more bones in the next 8 years than we have had in a long time. We can't get too disappointed on the ones that get away.
