"Morning Joe" topped CNN's "American Morning" for first time last week
TV Newser: Tuesday, Nov 18
Morning Joe Tops American Morning for the Week

MSNBC's Morning Joe continues to build on its successful election season ratings. For the first time ever, the show beat CNN's American Morning last week in both Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo. Fox & Friends remains the #1 cable morning show.

Fox & Friends — 868,000 / 337,000
Morning Joe — 605,000 / 246,000
American Morning — 578,000 / 239,000

TVNewser was first to report about a round of layoffs at American Morning last week. We also revealed all three cable morning news programs' year-to-year ratings growth with Morning Joe up the most.

1. What is the difference between Joe Scar and the Fox nuts? I have NEVER watched Fox, so this is a
real question.

8. Morning Joe actually has guests from both sides of the aisle and gives them the opportunity to speak
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 01:59 PM by Mike Daniels
I'm not a fan of Joe S. himself and Mika basically turned into a simpering Palin groupie during the election season.

That said, Morning Joe actually seems to attempt to give equal time to both sides as far as booking guests is concerned. Furthermore, the left isn't represented exclusively by "consultants" who roll over as soon as the host says "boo" as is the case on Fox and Friends.

I don't know why Joe S. seems to be based in DC now but the physical separation does allow Mika and the peanut gallery a chance to get their voices heard w/out Joe running roughshod over them.

11. Joe is most definitely an idiot, but he generally seems to let his
guests with other viewpoints talk. He doesn't yell over them like on Faux News. The impression I often get is that his guests are far smarter than him. He's like a straight man with wacky ideas, that get corrected like tommy Smothers on the Smothers Brothers.

Prior to the election he had some pretty impressive guests that gave compelling reasons for voting for Obama...He let them clearly make their case. People right of the center are not going to watch Olberman and Maddow, they will watch this ass-hat. As long as he lets his far more knowledgeable guests speak, his show may be a powerful weapon.

I have not watched the show a great deal...so please correct me if you think I'm wrong.

5. I stopped watching for a long time
But I've been sneaking in 5 or 10 minutes every morning lately , and I always regret it. I'm going to stop. Joe and Mika never have any fucking idea what they're talking about...they read the headlines of newspaper articles and they think it qualifies them to talk about issues in an intelligent way. The guests can be good, but the hosts ruin it.

6. Viewership increase was because people like me wanted to watch
their repuke heads explode. Mika and Palin, Puckhanan losing it, Joe crying like a baby. It was most entertaining. Now back to the local news or CNN.... Curiosity I'm sure...

9. I like the show's general concept but Joe's getting worse every day.
And Mika's getting dumber every day.
