Gosh, just think what we have to look forward to here at DU
Before you know it, certain DUers and trolls will be howling that Obama is a war criminal and yelling to impeach him. The only question is whether it will happen before he's actually inaugurated.

3. I don't believe the rumor that he's going to be President.
Until the electors have cast their votes, I will not be convinced.

Then there's the whole swearing in rumor. Don't get me started on that.

The impeachment petition will be passed around a day after inauguration.

Until the bullshit meter on this site breaks the spring. I could be wrong and it could happen earlier but I'll bet is sure as hell doesn't happen any later.

This place was actually more fun when we were all going after the pukes. The recent batch of whining is pathetic, totally pathetic and it pisses me off to no end.

shut down their frontal lobes and head over to the Lounge?

People can be excessive but isn't it a little unreasonable to ask people to disengage entirely from this process except for cheerleading? We do overreact at times but, it's not as though there aren't plenty of occasions begging for that overreaction.

Obama et al are about to find out that the net goes both ways. That's not a bad thing.

Eta: No disrespect to the Lounge intended.

15. I would have hoped that people paid attention to Obama for the last
two years. I would hope that people would actually wait and see if he does what he says he'll do and stop having petulant, mindless little hissyfits over his every move.

I intend to give him a chance. I'll criticize him if he doesn't keep his word about Iraq or other issues he's actually made promises on.

Obama did NOT run as a liberal.

17. No one could possibly mistake Obama for a liberal.
And I hope people understand that he meant regime change more than social change.

Whatever he does is better than McJerk would have done.

But/and/yet, people are engaged. That's the flip side of the Obamanation. The beer runs out, they're still there. Obama needs to learn how to deal with this in order to keep them on his side. Allowing his base to be demonized as the "loony left blogosphere" would be a real mistake at this point, and a waste, too.

11. lol. I'll be long gone from this site before it gets to that point
I for one am still ELATED that we have the presidency and increased majorities in congress.

Obama is a brilliant man and, just based on the way he ran his campaign, I think we will be in much better hands than we have been the last 8 years under Bush.

This site got me through hard political times and for that I'm grateful. It's the only political site I read, but I won't hesitate to move on if the concerns get out of hand.

16. My question is -
If you're going to appoint Democrats, and you want top people without raiding Congress, how many top Democrats are not connected to Clinton in some way?

Holder was Deputy AG under Clinton... Janet Napolitano was appointed to her former US attorney position by Bill Clinton...Elena Kagan was a former White House Council under Clinton.

If you don't raid the Senate, who outside of somebody connected to Clinton is as qualified? John Edwards is way more of a political hot potato than Holder, though maybe not on DU. Patrick Fitzgerald? He was appointed by Bush.

21. If you're a successful Democrat in DC, chances are you did work for Clinton.
That makes perfect sense to me.

Holder is a little different. My worry about him has nothing to do with the Clintons at all.

27. There was 12 years after Carter, only 8 after Bush - plus
Carter was a one-term president who was perceived as a failure. Clinton was a 2 term president who enjoyed very high approval ratings.

28. Two of Clinton's first four nominees were former Carterites and two were from Congress
Here are Clinton’s major appointments to his initial cabinet - the positions that are normally considered the Big 4:

1) Janet Reno, Attorney General (after Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood had nanny problems) – Reno was appointed to her state’s attorney office, and then re-elected to it 4 times after that. Zoe Baird, the original nominee, was a part of the Jimmy Carter administration. Baird also worked for Aetna and General Electric, two of DU’s favorite companies.

2) Warren Christopher, Sec of State – Dept. Secretary of State under Carter

3) Lloyd Bentsen, Sec. of Treasury – resigned from the Senate to take the job, and was replaced in the Senate by Kay Bailey Hutchison.

4) Les Aspin, Sec of Defense, had been in Congress for over 20 years.

I don't see any raiding of academia there.

However, when I disagree with Obama or any other politician, I'll say so- I'm not sure what you are advocating here.

32. calling all "certain DUers"
Certain DUers unite! Let's get busy! We have a lot of whining to do. Remember, perfection is our goal.

I for one just cannot wait for the howling to begin - aaaaawoooooooooooo! - and to start throwing petulant, mindless little hissyfits.

How come the people accusing "certain" others of doing this are always the ones who are actually doing most of the howling and whining and throwing of petulant, mindless little hissyfits?
