We weren't duped by letting Lieberman stay on. |
|
I know. Many think we should have kicked Lieberman out of the Democratic Party and certainly have kicked him off the Homeland Security gavel position.
That's like playing dodge ball on the school playground. We could finger point and chortle like kids watching Lieberman scuffed up and walking off the field. He then would join the other punks on the other side of the block.
This is a time for a well-strategized game of chess.
Lieberman now knows that it is a time for bipartisan change. Those on the Republican side looking for the "dodge ball solution" are now humbled by how even a turncoat like Lieberman can get a second chance to finally do good. It perhaps will make it easier to join in the bipartisan solution instead of folding back for more partisan wankering.
The biblical parable of the Prodigal Son comes to mind where that son returns home after hanging out with pigs (literally) only not to be shamed but embraced by his father, and thus has his loyalty.
So now Joe will walk the halls of Congress with his tail between his legs after he finally admitted that he made mistakes with his statements about Obama. He walks the halls looking over his shoulder. His word means nothing now.
All the Democrats have to do is grab him by the scruff of his neck for close votes and make sure he signs on and stays with the program.
He thought he was a bishop, but he's now really is just a pawn. I would assume that he was told that if he strays again, some action will be done to cut him off at the knees.
Face it, that's politics. Lieberman can have his Homeland Security gavel and will be responsible for actually helping roll back some of the crap he helped put in.

1. Lieberman is beholden only to the alien beings that dropped him here on earth. |
|
Don't expect to get one thing from him. No way, no how, unless that thing is what he wants for his own.

3. He didn't admit he made mistakes |

I heard his pissy little voice on MSNBC whining that he never said anything bad about Obama, acting all surprised that anyone would think he had.
And now that they've given him all he wants, please explain how they'll be able to twist his arm?

14. Lieberman is now Obama's "new friend"... |
|
Thinking that Lieberman will wield his gavel against Obama now is pointless. It's done.
I've never liked Lieberman. Ever. But I know he is just as willing to be a limp rag for Obama as he was a turncoat. One can hope that the "Gang of Four" made him offer his gratitude by not fighting against the Obama plans in the future...

Face it, Joe got away with it, and he now has no reason to "walk the halls looking over his shoulder." He walks scott-free and clear as far as any risk of consequences for his betrayal. That burns my butt, as it does many people here.
But, you know what? It's over. My dad always used to say, "you gotta start from where you're at." And where we're at is, Joe got away with it. And the slim-pickin's of solace is, he really does vote with the progressives on many things. Not enough, and not on some really important things... but he's been with the Dems far more than some of the "blue dogs."
So, time to spit out the broken teeth and move on. We've got a country to save.
THAT'S politics.

That's just the kind of person I want chairing a committee.
It will be years before I concede that this was the right decision because I trust that Joe will embarrass Dems before long. I hope that CT Dems will vote to replace him in 2012.

7. he is keeping that chairmanship from someone who deserves it |
|
someone who actually helped the Dems win the election - vs worked against it.
Huge Mistake - a slap-in-the-face of those of us who worked for a Dem victory.
And they did not even have the guts to vote publicly.

8. Is it worth slapping New Orleans, and hard working Democrats in the face? |
|
Lieberman lied about investigating Katrina. Are our lives worth nothing to the Democratic Party?
There are Democrats who've been fired, ousted, punished, etc. by doing a lot less harm to the Democrats than Lieberman.

9. Others have brought forth an idea |
|
that perhaps Obama plans to abolish or revamp the Dept. of Homeland Security so that this committee is no longer needed. If this is in the offing, no wonder Obama allowed Holy Joe to keep his post. He allowed the Connecticut Senator to save face and yet will not allow him to wield any real power.

15. It's not just Homeland Security |
|
The committee originally was a government oversight committee. They added the Homeland Security oversight to an existing committee. So, even if they disband HS, it will still be an government oversight committee, one which can be used to make mischief, if that is JoLie's intent.

10. Do you really buy that? Heck of a job, Joey! Then why be mad at bush for putting incompetents into |
|
Let's put incompetents into power to prove we are bipartisan? Because then we can control them?
I'm against that concept.

Also, the prodigal son's brother was very upset that his brother was forgiven and brought back in the fold. The brother felt it was unfair because he(the brother)followed the rules.

16. "Do we want to have a big fight over what happens to Joe Lieberman? I don't think so." |
|
That's what Howard Dean said today regarding the fighting happening on Lieberman.
I agree completely. Do we have Lieberman get thrown out of the party to have him whine on every MSM channel about how his poor little ass got hurt by the Democrats?
Lieberman is owned now... he had to say what he said in 2008 was bullshit and he owes the Democrats for letting him slide. PLUS it takes his ass off the headlines... if he returns back to being an ass, it will not come as news. By denouncing his own words, his word means nothing now.
Lieberman WANTED to be kicked out so he could play his best part as a sacrificial fucking lamb. He didn't get that prize.
