Believe me, I really do. If he was on fire, I wouldn't piss on him to put it out.

However, I don't want the next four and eight years to be a whole series of vendettas. I know a lot of people here want investigations of Bush and the Republicans and prison sentences to go around. I don't. I want that period relegated to the past. So long as Lieberman does not become an impediment, this is fine. Lord knows he was lousy in this position against Bush. I doubt when he is dealing with a Democratic caucus that is looking for any reason at all to boot him that he will be an immovable asshole.

There are much more important things than "getting even". That doesn't accomplish very much of anything. There's an agenda to pass and a country to save and there is precious little time to do it.

If he was on fire is the ONLY reason I wouldn't piss on him.

4. I hate him too, and was initially upset
but am beginning to see the silver lining in all this. I'm hoping that reports of him being nervous about his fate following the election are true and that the dems made their feelings known to him prior to their vote. I think we, and particularly Obama, came out looking like the bigger people in all this. Now let's just hope we keep the squeeze on those miniature balls of his; he better vote our way from now until his re-election.

9. Okay, I don't want vendettas but one of the big problems we have in this country
is that there are no consequences for actions no matter how onerous. How many Bush officials are in jail for their shennanigans? Good Lord if there are no consequences for an action why would anybody even try to do anything right or do their best job?
Look at Paulson and Bernanke pulling off one of the biggest heists in history knowing full well that no one will do one godammed thing about it.
So maybe George Washington should have gone to General Arnold and say "Hey sorry about accusing you of treason. Can you take over command in New York?"
It is not a vendetta for actions to have consequences that are comesurate with the the deed.

12. Do you think Lieberman has done a good job?
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 07:27 PM by Dr Fate
I think he has done a shitty job.

I think that the "getting even" talking point is a strawman designed to make anti-Lieberman DUers look petty, irrational or somehow "anti-change."

This is about COMPETENCE, honesty and getting the best man for the position.

Do you really think Lieberman is the best man for the position?

I don't.

(Not to mods- not stalking- just asking this question again)
