A Different Take On The LIEberman Vote Today
Folks, they have him by the balls.

I have no doubt that Reid et al negotiated a LOT with all members AND Holy Joe.

See, Joe backed McLame knowing that if he won, Joe was politically safe - FOREVER.

He put ALL of his eggs in that basket. He didn't believe we would elect a black man and he KNEW he would be heavily rewarded.

Then, the unthinkable happened to him. There is your only motive.

I will bet the house that the Dem Leadership "negotiated" with Joe. They told him in VERY specific terms that he owes them his ASS and I'll bet the exact words used were, "You WILL vote and openly SUPPORT x, y AND z, and you WILL do x, y AND z, as CHAIRMAN of that committee. If you fail to do so, the $$ will be POURING into Ned Lamont's campaign faster than you can go on FAUX news and bitch."

Joe is such a little shit weasel that he agreed to save face. THEY.OWN.HIS.ASS.

Sorry, that's all I got left ;)

Actually, I think Lieberman owns them
Sorry, not buying it.

They caved in like craven cowards, just like they did with Bush for the past eight years.

Agreed. Lieberman is a clever politician.
The Dems have proved themselves not-so-clever in the past. I have no reason to believe they "own" Lieberman in any way.

3. Well, I like they way you think
Something behind the scenes doesn't add up and that was Dean's immediate statement.
Dean hates Lieberman so I think he knows something we don't.

My fingers are crossed hoping you are right.

9. Also Durbin and Kerry loathe Lieberman. No way would they speak for that ass unless Obama NEEDED it.
And that it better be something HUGE like Universal healthcare or Iraq withdrawal.

6. " $$ will be POURING into Ned Lamont's campaign "
I suspect that will be the case regardless of Joe's future behavior, assuming that Ned Lamont runs on the Democratic ticket in 2012. Will Joe run as an Independent again in 2012? If so, I fear a 2006 repeat.

14. They can't take Lieberman's chair away after the new senate starts next year
unless they get a majority, not sure if it is 2/3rds or just a simple majority, from the ENTIRE Senate. The Repukes will vote to support Lieberman and so will the Bush Dog Dems. So they have NO leverage over Lieberman once the new Senate starts in 2009.

If that's the case, it's worth giving in to the little weasel. Given the way our Dems behave, though, I don't know.

18. And if he refuses, they will write strongly worded letters...
...and make sure that bloggers cut & paste those strongly worded letters until the next time Reid has to write strongly worded letters about Lieberman.

20. Seems to me that Lieberman owns THEIR asses
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 05:54 PM by librechik
all he has to say is, sorry, I'm sleeping late that day when a filibuster arrives. And we would all be begging him and bribing him to please please be the 60.

And he might, if they give him exactly what he wants. Just like what happened today.

All we can do is elect more Dems to the Senate in 2010 so we won't need Joe.

22. So you are saying
Lieberman is Wormtail (I can see the resemblance, physically and otherwise)

and

Obama is Harry Potter.

But, other than the current resident of the Naval Observatory, I don't know who would be Voldemort.
