Why are some people interpreting our disgust w/the Lieberman vote as taking a big swipe at Obama?
Good gawd, we've got people here acting like it's a complete rebellion, when it's nothing of the kind. Joe Lieberman just happens to be the most unpopular member of the Senate right now, and for obvious reasons, so it's only natural that emotions are going to be running high about this.

Just because a lot of us are upset with ANY senate Democrats (including President elect Obama) who voted to keep that despicable puke, Joe Lieberman, in our caucus, it doesn't mean that any of us are ready to throw Obama overboard. Are we totally pissed at the Dems who supported Lieberman and rewarded him today for his disloyalty? You betchya! Overall, though, it doesn't necessarily mean that we still don't think the world of Obama.

If my son or daughter does something that really pisses me off, I'm gonna let them know about it, but it doesn't mean I'm going to write them off. Jeesh, it's just one issue.

Having said that, any Democrat who voted today to keep Lieberman in our caucus did nothing short of wimping out, IMO.

2. No, it's the big swipes at Obama that are interpreted as big swipes at Obama.
"We've elected another Republican" and all the trash talk over appointments Obama hasn't even made yet. Being unhappy about the Lieberman situation is fine. So is everybody.

11. Yes, yes they did.
That's the sort of thing that's had me shaking my head over my fellow DUers all day. For God's sake, people, let Obama be sworn in and start governing before you start doing the dance of the herded cat! :eyes:

On Lieberputz, though, I fully understand being annoyed. To be completely honest, I hated Lieberman for YEARS before it became "cool." I hated him going back to the late 90s, and was practically nauseous over Gore picking him as the Veep candidate.

On a realistic level, though, we can't throw the rodent out of the Senate, which is the only punishment I'd think of as being really useful.

6. It's spin- they want to paint anti-Lieberman DEMS as being anti-change.
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 07:22 PM by Dr Fate
In any event, I never heard Obama say that Lieberman should retain his chair, only that he should still caucus with the DEMS.

10. Well some people really are doing that. But you're not. And I'm not.
I am pissed about Lieberman staying in but I'm okay with Obama apparently disagreeing wtih me. I'm sure that'll happen here and there.

I understand Obama wanting to be true to his rhetoric and not kick somebody out right away. I do think that Senate dems could have stripped him of his chairmanship and still allowed him to caucus with us. And if he wanted to take his toys and go home, fine.

I really wish I knew that they have some control over his sorry ass now that he's staying.
