Poll question: Did Joe Lieberman WANT to be kicked out of the Democratic Party? |
|
He always loved playing the "Poor Me" schtick... I'm thinking that he wanted to get kicked out so he could play up how he is a "real Independent" and get Republicans to welcome him with open arms as some kind of populist hero... and that antic was taken away from his soiled hands. Maybe you agree...

2. he's not in the party anymore but if he still was, looking for a bit of martyrdom, it's possible. |

3. Joe is a leader of Democrats, according to the Dems in the Senate. They are so stupid. |

4. Joe wanted whatever he could get- and he got it. |

I'll maintain this position until the facts prove me otherwise.

6. Well now Joe has to shut his fucking piehole |
|
If he had gotten kicked out, imagine the goddamn whining and selfish noodle-brained garbage we'd have to hear from the Repigs interjecting about Poor Little Joe.
From my view, he didn't get what he wanted. He wanted to whine about being picked on.
Now he's just a laughing stock and a guy who had to retract his word.

8. I'm guessing that the Gang Of Four gave Joe his marching orders |
|
It just seems too obvious to me that they would just let him out without some deal happening. That said, I would have LOVED the symbolic act of throwing Joe out onto the curb... but I think that's really what he wanted. His Martyrdom trophy was thrown in the trash.

10. That's my thought too. He didn't get out of jail for free. |
|
It looks like Joe got away for free. Except there's no such thing as "free" in the Beltway.
All those votes to let him keep his gavel cost him. He's gonna have to play ball with us if he wants any sort of influence. And Obama himself has probably got a decent number of favor cards from Lieberman - he can't make too much noise in his chair at the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs commitee - Obama's gonna get to do his thing without too much harassment.

16. For Lieberman to have to admit some of his statements were wrong was an indication... |
|
... that he was told he better retract what he was saying in order to get the hands off his back.
He basically lost his credibility today when he renounced his own statements. Hopefully he will be asked more about what he said that he specifically denounces, although that would mean we'd have to see his mug on TV again.
The fact that he had to shame himself before getting a pass is enough. He knows he better shut his piehole and follow Obama's directions. He is a survivor after all.

that way he could have cavorted with Lindsay & John and the "three amigos" could have formed their own little coalition to thwart Obama.. Joe's a Drama-Llama and he loves playing the martyr..
