Why not? Let Hill take the SOS position, I think she is an excellent choice. But she will need to be replaced in New York as Senator, why not Bill? Of course it is a demotion from where he was, but what isn't? He cannot be President anymore and yes, he can make more money in the private sector but now needs to watch conflicts of interest, assuming she accepts the position.

He would be a freshman Senator and still need to defer to his seniors but he would quickly rise. I have no idea if he has any further interest in making policy but on MSNBC's Nightline they said when he left he said he loved the political game and hated leaving it...

Why not?

4. I like him
He was a good not great President. However he's an executive not a legislator.

Plus he would never be able to become one of one hundred. It isn't in his nature. He likes to be the center of the room. If he isn't he does things to make himself that.

How is that?

5. Well, that's what the press tells us. I don't know that I believe it.
He might be absolutely fabulous.

And you're assuming the Senate is full of humble cooperators. They're the biggest bunch of blowhards I've ever seen!

It takes an ego the size of Brazil to take on a powerful DC position. Clinton's well equipped, I think. And he's a brainiac. That's a nice addition for the Senate. Besides, we miss him!!!!!

14. He had problems
during the Clinton campaign at time.

The Senate is filled with egos yes. A former President would be a giant distraction. Espicially that former President.

Besides. I think he enjoys retirement.

7. What does that mean - "Bill's time has passed?" Please, explain the seemingly irrational hatred
of the Clintons. I have never gotten it.

13. There is no irrational hatred
If you've read any of my post over the past week I have no problem with Hillary as Sec of State. Bill in the Senate would be a problem. He wouldn't be able to become 1 of 100. He's an executive and used to being the center of a room. Going to being a Jr. Senator wouldn't work out to well for him.

15. That is correct
Biden was elected at 29 but I turned 30 prior to being sworn in. His birthday is November 20.

6. Besides the fact that both are Corporatists, I am very TIRED of these two people.
I'm tired of royalty. And I don't find much inspiring or hopeful in either one of them. Never did.

I'm a very reasonable person; look my posts up here. I understand the pragmatic issues. I recognize political necessity. Personally, I am not a stranger to negotiation and compromise.

None of that changes how disappointing it feels to see what looks exactly like politics as usual, i.e. they take care of their own, no matter how bad they fucked-up, nor how many 10s of thousands of people DIED because B & H are who they are.

8. It is my recollection that only one President has ever done anything like this:
John Quincy Adams - son of John Adams - who served in the House after being President.

Taft served as Supreme Court Justice after his Presidency but I don't consider that a "demotion" but rather a "lateral move".

Doug D.

9. Good idea, but would Bill do it?
He defeated an incumbent repuke, withstood the most intense and relentless attacks on a public figure I have ever seen, presided over a relatively peaceful and prosperous time, left with surpluses rather than bailouts - I don't know why people want to throw crap at this guy, and his wife. That aside, it surely would be a step down for him, he would be moving from the world stage to the smaller, less glorious national stage. He surely would consider where best he could do the most good. If Hillary becomes Obama's sos, then that may be a moot point. I have no doubt he'd be a great Senator. I'd love to see such a scenario come to pass.

12. Would he even want to do that? He's already got a ton of stuff he does and he looks
pretty happy and busy.
