I'm pretty happy with what Obama is doing with his cabinet and staff. |
|
I kind of understand why he would want to choose each of the people he did, whether I agree or not.
Life's messy. I'll get over it.
Sure glad I don't have people on DU second guessing everything I've done.

I think he's going to do this. Make us the America we could be.
Smart, Kind, Strong, Wise. And take it to the stars.
Is that not It?

Obama is putting together an impressive team that can get his agenda done in congress and in the world.
I don't know who else we will see, but he's going to bring in top people.
I like Biden, Emanuel, Lux, Rice, Jarrett, Craig, Clinton, and Holder.

I didn't try to convince myself that Obama was a progressive liberal, or the swallow the Repub meme of "the most liberal Senator". I read his writings, and listened carefully to his speeches, and he impressed me as JFK like. That is a left-ish/middle-of-the-road Democratic. No wild lefty.
That is who I voted for, and I'm not disappointed.
I remember a LOT of very liberal folks were sorely disappointed in JFK. Many wanted a guaranteed annual income for every citizen, socialized medicine (as universal health care was called then), legal abortion, and desegregation. We got desegregation started under JFK, and continued under LBJ, but we never made much headway on the other things until later.
So now we have a chance at universal health care. We are making progress.
And my god! Just to dig ourselves out of the wretched pit Bush drove us into is more than enough to keep me singing for a long time!

If he closes Guantanamo and gets us out of Iraq I'll feel like my vote was well cast - any more than that is pure gravy.
It will also be nice to have someone to look at every time something happens besides that toad Bush.....fock me.
