(Stephen) Baldwin: 'Obama Comment Was A Joke' (Crap. Looks like he's staying after all.)
Republican actor Stephen Baldwin will stay in the U.S. - he was "just joking" when he vowed to flee the country if Democratic politician Barack Obama was elected president.

The star stunned fans when he appeared on U.S. TV show Fox News and made the promise, poking fun at his liberal brother Alec, who reportedly announced in 2000 he would move abroad if George W. Bush was voted into the White House.

A string of Obama-supporting stars - including Seal, Susan Sarandon, Stephen Baldwin and Michael Stipe - similarly vowed to leave the country if Republican John McCain was the eventual victor this year.

But just two weeks after Obama was named the 44th U.S. President, Baldwin has backtracked on his pledge - insisting the remark was made in jest.

He tells New York gossip column PageSix, "The liberal Democrats who didn't get that I was joking need to lighten up. Obama is obviously talented and intelligent, and I have great respect for the man.

"He's got my full support, and I'm gonna be praying for him and his administration."

3. He's asking for it with that last comment. Now all the right wing loonies will say
he's not a real Christian because he doesn't hate Pres. Elect. Obama.

25. Disagree--I think he knows that being a big ol' asshat is the only reason anyone
anyone gives the ugliest, most talentless Baldwin any attention whatsoever.

It's a strange kind of personal reassurance, but if it allows him to sleep better at night, I'm happy to mock him for it.

11. Has any famous person ever actually followed through on that?
Obviously, some relative unknowns probably do leave the country after every election they strongly disagree with. But does anyone have a record of a well-known person of any stripe making that statement/threat, and then following through with it after the election?

Personally, I hate idle threats. It makes me think less of the person, regardless of their side of the aisle.

16. Personally (regardless of party), my take is fine.....shut your yap and move!
If you decide not to move after running your mouth don't be surprised when people don't want to hear you continue to bitch.

Frankly, if you have enough money that you can uproot yourself just because of an election result then you probably aren't all that in touch with the general population to begin with.

"Obama is obviously talented and intelligent, and I have great respect for the man." Oh really? That is not the tone he had earlier in the month.
