Dennis Kucinich for Secetary of the Interior |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 12:15 PM by demwing
the SoI generally comes froma western state, but there is no requirement. I think Kucinich would excel in this position, remake the office in his image, and represent the interest of the people, not the logging industry and the recreational vehicle industry.
Discussion?

2. He just won re-election |

he's the only real progressive in the house and you want to put him in charge of flora and fauna? I think his voice is needed right where it is.

4. I proposed the same thing last week |
|
and for some reason, Kucinich just isn't taken all that seriously around here. If I had to pick the one person who best represented the ideals of what Democrats are SUPPOSED to stand for, it would be Dennis Kucinich. He's one of my alltime favorite Democrats, if not the very favorite.
Dennis has been an outstanding champion for the environment, and I would feel totally comfortable with him as SOI.

6. Secretary of the Interrior will almost certainly be from a Western State |
|
Western States are largely under represented in Cabinet positions and that is made up for by having a politician from the west as Secretary. Issues that the SOI face have much more significant impact on the West than any other region, Water use negotiaions of the Colorado, BLM lands, etc.

8. No, his voice is best in the House. |
|
We need to leave some of our best in their current roles. I would hate to see all of our stars move into the White House causing a leadership vacuum that will (I'm a cynic) bite us in the ass.

He's the conscience of "the people" in the people's house. I never thought of him as one to get bogged down in the bureaucracy.

14. Major disqualifier: He would represent the interests of the people. |
|
For that alone, he is often the subject of ridicule (which really shows you just how perverse things have become).
