Stuff I LIKE about what Obama's done so far
1)The AG appointment.
2)The Daschle appointment.
3)The talk of appointing openly gay people to important positions.

I'm sure there will be other stuff.

I and other progressives don't hate the guy. We're just keeping a close watch.

OK?

1. My take on those three.
1 - Mixed feelings. The big blot is the Chiquita stuff, which bothers me. But there's also some good stuff mixed in that he's done.

2 - Doesn't bother me. Daschle was ineffective in the position he had because of his timid, wonkish nature. While he'll still need to confront those he disagrees with, it won't have to be in such an open direct nature as his previous position needs (in my opinion anyways).

3 - Until it goes beyond talk I'm not overly impressed. And if he follows through (and I suspect he will) then he needs to go further in his support and change his stance on gay marriage, openly and publicly.

But I'm with you. I genuinely don't hate the guy at all, and in fact like many things about him.

3. Close Watch? That's fine and good.
Keep it up, Obama, himself, has even said he wants to hear dissent to his actions and policy suggestions.

I have no problem with progressives criticizing Obama constructively. Its the hysterics and melodrama that comes out around here sometimes that I can't stand. Not all progressives are hysterical... there are as many irrational progressives here as there are irrational yellow-dog Democrats here.
