What's a good position for George Voinovich?
Edited on Wed Nov-19-08 08:46 PM by sniffa
I'm not up on Ohio rules but they have a Dem Governor. If he's free to appoint it's a 2 point swing.

For that matter what other Senators could Obama pluck to increase the majority?

1. It's not like he can just pluck them out.
No GOP Senator in their right mind would accept a cabinet position if it means that we get 60 seats...

4. I'd say most can if offered the right position
Why not him? Didn't he cry during Bolton's vetting? That's got to count for something even if he didn't vote no but nothing.

12. He did vote "no" in the committee though - which was important
as it meant he was voted out of committee, but without a recommendation. This likely was key to getting him filibustered.

7. Why not?
Ohio is trending blue. Might just be good job security.

8. He could take Snowe and Collins
although he might rather take some more conservative Senators since those two will vote with the Dems on some issues.

9. I would not be surprised if Obama chose Lugar for something.
Unfortunately, Indiana's governor is a Republican and it wouldn't net us any Senate seats.

Although I suppose if the GOP picked a lightweight, we could win the special election.

10. Also, won't he be the Senior member for them?
If he's the "leader" it may be good for him to remain as a possible ally for some issues.

11. That's true. Good point. I hadn't thought about that.
I guess I still haven't gotten used to the fact that Ted Stevens lost! :bounce:

14. The further away from Cleveland, the better
First, we sent him to Columbus. That was too close, so we sent him to DC. Now, that's STILL too close, so send the incompetent, whiny, two-faced little fuck to Iraq. One-way ticket.

Then, he can assume whatever position he likes.

16. Yep, he's a legand in the mind of Brent Larkin and Bob Bennett...
(FYI, Larkin is the Editor of the Plain Dealer and a champion of Voinovich and Bennett is the man behind the man... Not for OP but for others who might red this...)

He fucked up Ohio so bad with that 920 bullshit so now school boards are in the business of raising money instead of educating our children...
