Where does all this confusion come from about Obama's cabinet picks..were you not paying attention
during the primary??

I am flummoxed by all the questioning of Obamas picks.. he is doing EXACTLY what he said he was going to do.

Did you somehow miss the memo? In every single speech I ever listened to Obama spoke to ending the dead lock in DC, and giving every side its voice.

And picking Clinton appointees to help the transition, is good judgment. That is what he ran on ..

JUDGMENT, and ending Dead Lock. A Change in how we have been doing things on the political stage for the last 8 years.

That will include, new people, established people, people from both parties.

Remember how badly the republicans blew it, to the point of having our party meet banned from decision making meetings.

1. They want what they want, not what they were promised. Progressives are weird like that.

3. I think a lot of people
really believed that idiotic National Journal piece that listed Obama as the single most Liberal Senator in Washington. I mean there was absolutely no real evidence to back it up but McCain and Caribou Barbie parroted the thing so often that it became true.

In reality Obama has always been pretty centrist and doing exactly what he said he was going to do.

Plus there's still a lot of resentment over the primaries around here, actually a lot more than I expected. A lot of folks just can't let it go and now seem to consider the Clintons' one step away from the idiocy that is shrubbo.

4. Good point.. and let me add.. the whole idea that Liberal is not
somehow centrist, in the fact that more people are liberal whether they call themselves that or not also seems to be missed.

Being a liberal is being the average American on so many issues.

5. I'm a little surprised by the need to stifle discussion around here.
Look, if we were all in lockstep we would be Republicans, right? The fact is that what is a good selection for the country is not necessarily a good move for some people locally. Specifically, I'm thinking about what will happen, in the short run, if we lose our beloved Gov. Napolitano. It doesn't mean that we're criticizing Obama or that the choice is a bad one: it means that it will be difficult for us locally and we're trying to wrap our minds around what is going to happen to us - our state budget, our environment, etc. - in the next 2 years.

Okay?

7. Frankly, the overall well-being of the nation is more important than the well-being of Arizona

8. My op is not about stifling discussion..
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 11:41 AM by peacetrain
It is about, how "some" seemed so surprised at Senator Obama's picks.. He is picking exactly who he said he was going to pick..From the first time I heard him in July of 2007, he is doing exactly what he said he was going to do.

He has not lead anyone down the garden path by saying one thing and doing another. He is doing what he said he was going to do.

:hi:

By the way I was just reading your thread on Napolitano, and you made some good points about who will come in behind her. But she is term limited and would not her talents be what we need on the national stage and not lost by limits out??

EDIT: part of my post got cut out

9. Our fear is over the damage the Repubs can do
with unfettered power even in a short amount of time. There will be no adult supervision in our state. But of course the country as a whole will be better off with the very best minds and talent on the national stage.

As for my comment about stifling discussion, I probably should have posted it in a different thread, specifically, the one that labelled dissenters as "concern trolls." But it landed in yours because I've hidden the other one for the sake of my blood pressure. Sorry.

10. I'm surprised by people's definition of "stifling discussion".
Last I checked, telling people they were wrong was also discussion. Like, say, the OP just did.
