STEVENS BIDS FAREWELL

The outgoing senator gives a heartfelt address to his colleagues on the floor Thursday recalling his 40 years of work, Alaska's accomplishments.

Says he'll pray for his "successor's success," believes God will give him another opportunity to engage in public service.

"I don't have a rearview mirror. I look only forward. And I still see the day when I can remove the cloud that currently surrounds me."

4. If my car didn't have a rearview mirror, I'd hit a pedestrian everytime I pull out of my driveway.
Just sayin.

5. Everyone in this thread needs to be aware that ...
The internet is NOT a big truck! It's not something that you just dump something on. OKAY PEOPLE?!?!

The humour this man has brought us will be enjoyed (at his expense) for decades to come. Good riddance, you angry pathetic old turd. Enjoy serving as an embarrassment to your family for the remainder of your years.

8. Maybe if you had a rearview mirror
You would have seen the police car tailing you looking for suspicious behavior.

I suck at analogies.

9. Remember the wise words of Anne Robinson...
"You are the weakest link. Goodbye."

Seriously... he's 90 something, in the twilight of his life. Most people at 90 something have retired. His best interests IMO (and trying to look at it from his point of view) should be to try clear his name, and failing that limit what sentence he receives to the minimum. He should then keep out of the public spotlight and officially retire. If he's a religious man, throw himself into church life, perhaps.

Mark.
