I don't want Ted Stevens in jail.
Oh don't get me wrong, I want Ted to pay for his crimes but what is jail going to be for Ted but some cushy federal prison for celebrities and other wealthy folks who need their hands slapped. Should our taxes pay for that kind of rehabilitation?

I want Ted to do community service and I want him to work a job where he gets to see what exactly his type of politics has caused. I want him to work a soup line and feed not just the homeless but those people so strapped by this economy that they can barely feed their own family. I want him to work in a Nursing Home where he can see the broken down elderly who are suffering for their lack of decent healthcare reside. I want Ted to see and serve firsthand the type of country he has created with his horrid economic plans.

Call it purgatory on earth - he created it he should see it up close.

But then again if he can go to a regular jail - one that can take non-violent criminals and turn them into something even worse because of the poor conditions and overcrowding - that could be good too.

a petition with the White House yet........

15. According to Ted he didn't ask for a pardon
and he's not going to. He believes he will be vindicated on appeal, and requesting and accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt.

17. Yes, he's a pompous asshole,
but he's OUR pompous asshole.

I'm thrilled to death that Mark won this, and thank you for supporting him. I think he'll do a fine job down there. He may not march in lockstep (he does support drilling in ANWR and offshore, after all), but he is a forward thinker, especially on social issues, plus he's a dynamo on finances, which is a very good thing in this day and age.

18. Joe Biden supports the Banking Industry
senators tend to support those industries that employee the bulk of their constitutes. Fortunately for the Arctic Refuge, it'll be safe with the rest of the senators in our party fighting against it.

3. What is needed here is 'substantial cooperation' by Stevens to avoid active jail time...
Make him 'sing' to avoid the slamming of the iron barred door behind him.

He knows plenty, and he should tell us what he knows to avoid jail...

4. Based on your subject line I was prepared to disagree.
But the idea of Purgatory on Earth, I like. Especially since I truly believe he just got "caught up" in politics as usual, i.e. I doubt he's an incorrigible criminal.

14. I agree with you...I thought this post
was going to be "Oh he's just a poor old man. Leave him alone."

But I read it and thought "Hey, this isn't a bad idea."

Better to have him out with the masses than in some climate-controlled, cable TV-ed country club prison.

I think mopping some floors, cleaning some toilets and washing dirty dishes would give the Senator some time to think about how he screwed the American public for decades.

Might give Palin some pause, too.

8. Don't worry. There's no chance of Stevens spending time in jail. He'll be...
exempted by Bush from spending any hard time...don't know if it'll be called a pardon or commutation of sentence or whatever.

He'll be free as a bird to spend his remaining years surrounded by all his booty from his selfless years spent as an honest, hard working public servant.

:puke:

20. Warehousing the old coot is pointless; I like the idea of community service work.
Snaps for your great idea.
