Bush at G20 World Summit: A stunning shunning (video)
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 04:16 PM by SpiralHawk
"It appears in this video that President Bush's approval is in a sorrier state than polls indicate. In a video taken at the G20 summit, Bush walks across a line of world leaders without shaking or being asked to shake any of their hands.

"Whether the President is being rejected by the world leaders or he is rejecting them, CNN's Rick Sanchez aptly says that Bush looks like "the most unpopular kid in high school that nobody liked."

2. that is stunning!
Not one offers a hand - even though they shake each hand of the others.

Incredible. And sad that the rest of us suffer for his lack of respect around the world.

9. I interpreted it differently. Look at bushes lack of making eye contact.
I think he really doesn't want to be there and is not offering his hand to anyone. He's a spoiled brat who's sad that no one likes him. I think they probably would shake his hand if he offered it.

11. I found some of the potential excuses as amusing
One excuse was it's 'Cold & Flu Season' and perhaps George didn't want to share a cold he might have or risk getting one. But if you look at that video, he never once looked at these people behind him. And if someone was sick and you didn't want to shake your hand, hell I've been there, I'll still look at them in the eyes and perhaps just pat their should or even hold my hand back and say "sorry, I have a cold and don't want you to get my germs".

Second excuse was that Bush was snubbing them - he wasn't reaching out his hand to shake others. But the thing is, even I've had someone overlook me and I might tap them on the shoulder and say "hey how's it going". No one even bothered to correct him.

I can't wait to see that same setting again with Obama. The world must be rejoicing that we have fresh blood in the White House.

12. Investors in a lot countries bought the same derivatives that tanked our economy, but I think this
had to be Bush. I cannot imagine all those people getting together to agree not to shake his hand.

13. I just don't think so.
As much as I wish the "humiliated Bush" interpretation were true, I just don't buy it. All you have to do is watch the guy in front of Bush and the guy behind him.

Neither of them shakes hands with everyone as they pass. They're shaking hands and greeting people they haven't seen at the summit yet.

Bush met EVERYONE when they arrived. Came out to see them, shook their hands, walked with them. The video on the Daily Show of these moments is actually pretty funny.

I doubt there are very many people in the world who loathe Bush more than I do, but I want some genuine schadenfruede, damn it, not some Rick Sanchez manufactured foolishness.

14. I Agree
He's the host of this charade and already greeted each one separately - including holding hands with his buddy the King.
