Why don't the damned oil companies bail out the auto industry? |
|
They have untold trillions which they 'earned' from the auto industry. The could do this easily and ensure that their cash cow continues. This is a perpetual-motion machine for the industrialists/oilmen and they need to occasionally grease the wheels.
But no...better you and I should pay for all this....

1. The workers have not made the poor decisions that got them into |
|
this position. I hope they figure something out so people can continue to work. My husband and I lost our jobs due to this mess and it's really not the fault of the workers.

2. In all probablity the CEOs of the auto and oil companies were working together |
|

and it was pressure from oil that kept the cars from being made more efficient, I think that Oil SHOULD be the ones to bail them out. There should be an immediate and substantial windfall tax on the oil companies and its proceeds should be used to make sure that the autoworkers keep their jobs.

4. I agree. Wasn't it Ford's CEO who told congress to MYOB and let |
|
the people decide what kind of cars they want?
I recall something like that occurring not many months ago.

3. They so don't care. As long as whatever burns oil it all shakes out for them |
|
Plus, why in the world would you want this? We have energy and environmental concerns that aren't a good fit with burning oil like crazy. This is some irrational horse sense. Why allow the Axis powers to unite to save some money? I call that shortsighted.
Yeah, its way better we pay for this and use this as the opportunity to lay down the foundation for America's new energy infrastructure. Getting the cars right has long been a major hold up and this is the golden ticket. We got them by the scruff here and amazingly liberals are crying. This is a clear cut lemonaide situation, that we should be more than happy to help with. Let's open the books up and see what is needed to float them while we meld this with a greater vision and can intelligently present our demands.
