You were at a low point after Barack lost OH and TX and then PA and started a despondent thread.

Even emilyg tried to cheer you up. :)

And with that, I will exit, having nothing more to add.

Maybe not 1st prize...
Maybe not the runner-up prize...
Maybe the runner-up runner-up prize. Maybe they'll get that one. And declare victory.

That Kool-Aide must be mighty strong because you're delusional.

It's nice to see how nicely Bill and Hillary come to heel behind Obama's lead, though. I guess you can teach Old Dawgs new tricks.
The Clintons and their slavish three-ring media pimping circus entourage both realize a new Big Dawg is in town, much as they
must hate it. President-Elect Barack Obama is going to be their boss and the head of the Democratic Party from now on.

We Obama supporters are happy knowing that and consider any decisions he makes to be for the good of the country: Keep your
friends close and your enemies closer, so that when the latter fuck up, you can cut them loose.

Remember who has the power now (hint: it ain't the Clintons)? Heh.

Prediction: President Obama will be the best, most beloved president in modern history, bar none. :)

Obama Is 44. Woohoo!!

77. Nice to see you sputtering your idiocy
THe difference between you and I is that I am thrilled we have President Obama. I couldn't be happier. I never was consumed with hatred for him, like you are with Hillary. I disagreed strongly with some of his actions, but I moved beyond the primary right away and worked in the GE for both Obama and against Prop 8. I think he'll make a great President.

And, little one, he's just as much my President as he is yours.

I supported Biden, then Hillary and defended her vigorously against irrational morons who were proven wrong about her time and time again. I am no great fan of her husband and understand that she is just a professional politician. I don't idolize politicians. They are humans, with both good and bad qualities.

You? You're stuck in first gear. You're still caught in this little Clinton vs Obama dynamic in your head. You are no different than a PUMA. You are as vicious and as unlikable as they are. Same exact person, different side of the coin.

9. I'm sure no one will be surprised when I say that I believe she will
be the best SOS we could possibly have at this time. It is in her nature to prepare herself well for whatever job with which she is entrusted.

She was an excellent lawyer, mother, wife, advocate for women and children and First Lady of Arkansas and US, and has been a wonderful Senator. I must say that Obama surprised me by being big enough to appoint her. I hope both of them will continue to surprise me and make me proud.

Oh, I forgot to mention, she is brilliant, compassionate, tenacious and courageous, and we are very lucky. Color me very surprised at this appointment, and, I do believe she will be appointed.

I do speak from some knowledge. I was a brief inhabitant of Little Rock during 81-82 and worked for a very prestigious law firm there. I heard a lot about Hillary and Bill, some good and some bad.

Of course, Bill was defeated for the Governor's position in , I believe 1980, but he was already gearing up to run again. LR was all abuzz. When Hillary was spoken of, there was always respect even if tinged with criticism, but most of the people I came in contact with liked her a lot. My firm was mostly pugs, so the criticism was to be expected, the grudging respect unusual.

It was a difficult time in Arkansas during that period because Arkansas had a cap on interest rates, and credit had almost come to a standstill because the current interest rates were usurious under Arkansas law. My law firm at the time worked on this problem and was a major player in the litigation. When we left Arkansas, I left with a lot of respect for the Clintons, which, IMHO, was earned by both of them.

19. It seems odd being so enthusiastic having resisted her presidential candidacy so vigorously
but I think she will be an outstanding Secretary of State.

Her overpowering ambition which made her less than perfect for President will give her the iron determination to work with Obama to pursue the policy objectives of the Obama administration.

She will simply not listen to the word no, an irritation in the primaries, and she will wear down stalemated recalcitrants like the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Her burning ambition to achieve professional status that has enduring historical significance will give her a new bar to shoot for, the most effective Secretary State in modern history.

I also think that both Obama and Clinton observed and learned from each other. Not only did Clinton make Obama a better candidate, Obama makes Clinton a more effective Secretary of State. Clinton's downfall as a Presidential Candidate IMHO goes back to the IWR where her calculations clouded her political judgement. Obama has shown her to think bigger and to try and change the political landscape rather than to accept standard political assumptions. Obama will help liberate Clinton to be a better Hillary.

There is every reason to believe that this could be one of the greatest political partnerships ever.

And here is the final reason why we should have confidence in this: Obama has been observing Clinton closely. He has seen her assets and he knows her strengths and weaknesses. Obama will strengthen her strengths and ameliorate her shortcomings.

There is every reason to believe that Senator Clinton will be a great Secretary of State.

I totally agree with this statement, and think that it perhaps applies to us all.

I, for one, am in the middle of a soul search in which I am rethinking my "selling out" as a corporate lawyer 20 years ago.

It helps that the whole finance sector (in which I was working) collapsed.

And I totally agree with this too:

There is every reason to believe that this could be one of the greatest political partnerships ever.

73. Sure. She will follow Obama's leadership in foreign policy, which is what a SoS does.
I am sure she will be great at that.

74. Since I think that she would have been a great president and hope she runs again in the future,
I obviously think that she can handle the job of SOS. Hillary is an extremely hard worker who never shows up to a meeting unprepared, she's also one of the most intelligent persons in the room at any time. She will throw herself into the SOS position as she has done with any other job she's had in the past and excel at it.

Having said that, I would have preferred that she remain in the senate where she is independent and has her own power base. I'm not thrilled that she will be serving at Obama's pleasure, but it's her decision to make.

;-)

Let's stick tight. If there is one thing we have to work for more than making this administratino a success it's staying together no matter what and doing everything possible to make that so. Let's get to work.
