19. You should delete your post. It's in very bad taste.
You're doing the same crap the freepers did when Obama's grandmother died.

Attorney general collapses
By MIKE ALLEN | 11/20/08 10:22 PM EST

Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed Thursday night while giving a speech to the Federalist Society in Washington, according to three senior administration officials.

Details about Mukasey's condition were not immediately available.

Audience members said they began praying, fearing a stroke.

Mukasey is a former federal prosecutor from New York City who succeeded former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

At 10:30 p.m. Eastern, medical officials were still working on him on the stage, administration witnesses said.

9. I don't know what to feel with the news.
I guess I'll go with human empathy (hard for me considering his position on torture) and hope it's not too bad and he can recover.

21. Do you think Bush will send his goons to Mukasey's hospital bedside
to push through some last minute illegal spy/torture memo/law/pardon? Perhaps it would be too obvious?

But I think with the bush administration heading for the sunset, they need as many friends as they can muster.

13. This will be a significant problem for Bush over the next 60 days...
... since for initial reports it sounds like he may have suffered a serious health setback.

Mukasey has protected Bush in numerous ways since being confirmed.

AP reports slurring speech and loss of consciousness:

WASHINGTON – Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed during a speech Thursday night and lost consciousness, a Justice Department official said.

The 67-year-old Mukasey was rushed to George Washington University Hospital, where his condition was not immediately.

Mukasey was delivering a speech to the Federalist Society at a Washington hotel when "he just started shaking and he collapsed," said Associate Attorney General Kevin O'Connor. "They're very concerned."

Mukasey was 15 to 20 minutes into his speech about the Bush administration's successes in combatting terrorism when he began slurring his words. He collapsed and lost consciousness, said O'Conner, the department's No. 3 official. It was unclear whether he regained consciousness.

I believe he was giving an interview or talking over the phone, and he just stopped making sense. I remember hearing the recording.

24. Is it weird that they didn't rush him to the hospital?
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 11:26 PM by Phx_Dem
CNN reported shortly after that the paramedics were still on site with him. That doesn't sound good to me -- maybe it just reminds me of Princess Diana's death when then waited hours to take her to the hospital. The guy's a political dick but I don't want him die or suffer.

Ten minutes? It's not like he was out in the boonies.

... is there ANYONE in the Bush administration besides Condi who is younger than 70?

Technically I realize that Mukasey is 67 but you know what I mean.

"O'Connor said about hour after Mukasey collapsed that the last information he had was that the attorney general was alert and conscious and speaking."

Didn't Ted Kennedy have seizures that led to the diagnosis of his brain tumor?

40. According to Bloomberg Ashcroft was in the audience
Members of the audience at his speech, including former Attorney General John Ashcroft, formed a human wall so people could not view Mukasey as he was taken away. A member of the audience offered a prayer for Mukasey from the lectern and told everyone to go home. ..

42. It really bothers me that they're showing this man having a stroke
over and over again on TV. I don't care who he is,a simple reporting of the news without the graphic and very personal moment would have been sufficient.
