If God forbid, Mike MUkaskey dies... then what?
Bush has no protection from federal law while the Congress indicts and impeaches him within the next 60 days, making his pardons useless?

11. Wow.... doesn't sound good...
I don't wish him ill--just out of office immediately (and a lifetime of regrets for what he has enabled the Bush crime family to get by with).

14. It appears as though he had a stroke, from the reports I've heard
He was talking to the ultra right wing "Federalist Society" at the time, oddly enough.

5. Good riddance if he dies!
The only reason Mukasey is AG is because of POS like Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer.

The man is an enabler of torture and other human rights abuses. Let this fuck die!

8. Nothing.
They even won't bother nominating a replacement this close to the transfer of power.

A bunch of Assistant AG's and Deputy AG's will turn out the lights.

10. Deputy AG becomes acting AG
the deputy AG becomes acting AG until Bush appoints someone else which would need Senate confirmation unless he appoints someone during recess.

don't you all remember when John Ashcroft was in the ICU and Rove and Gonzalez (then whitehouse council) bypassed the acting attorney general to try and get Ashcroft to sign off (while he was in ICU) on the Domestic Surveillance Program? the the Deputy AG didn't agree so they ignored the fact he was actually then the active AG and went to Ashcroft.

Actually if Mukasey is as bad as news report says he is the deputy AG is already the acting AG-

The Deputy AG likely now acting AG is Mark Filip:
