Can't miss on it.

Having said that. Geithner sounds like a good choice

6. He's the secretary of the Treasury last I checked.

Barack Obama said that there is only one President at a time.

He's also said that he will name his SOT in all Deliberate Haste.

Guess that means that he'll name one shortly....although the media appears to one him to do it sooner than later.

7. If Obama is set on Summers he will wait until Hillary is official (to dampen feminist blow-back)
Summers seems to be who Barack would LIKE to pick. We'll see if he does.

If not Summers, presumably New York Federal Reserve Bank head, Tim Geitner.

Since we're talking about Treasury, Secretary of Education or Civil Rights Division, I hope Obama picks who he thinks will do the best job.

10. Robert Reich
We cannot carry on with trickle-down predatory capitalism. 28 years of that shit (yes including the 90's) has KILLED this country.

As Obama said in Denver not so long ago......

ENOUGH!!

13. It'll probably be Timothy Geithner
Head of the NY Federal Reserve Bank.

Larry Summers has been the other top contender, but the buzz is that he's much less likely now -- his name was floated, but the poor response by progressives and feminists will likely disqualify him -- no need to expend political capital and anger key allies when their are other perfectly qualified picks around. He will probably be picked to succeed Bernanke as Fed Chairman in a couple years.

So my money's on Geithner.

The dark-horse is Sheila Bair, a progressive Republican and head of the FDIC -- she's actually been the choice of a lot of progressive voices, including Dean Baker and Robert Kuttner, who note that, though a Republican, she's actually been proposing far tougher regulatory reforms than anyone else. She's trusted by financial markets due to her service as an undersecretary in charge of financial markets, but her background as a Kansan is actually in Main Street banking, and she has gotten rave reviews for her current service.

14. I nominate Catherine Austin Fitts.
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 12:49 AM by avaistheone1
She was Assistant Housing Secretary under Bush 1. Catherine left that job dismayed by the corruption at HUD. She has written and spoken about HUD's "problems" extensively.

Catherine knows the Washington ropes. She is well respected. I believe she is a financial genius. Her financial expertise is sought after the world over.

Moreover, she has very terrific innovative ideas for a new, safer and more sound economy.
