I want a "peacenik" in the SoS position. Someone who will champion our role as peacekeepers but not an advocate of pre-emptive strikes.
I have no idea how anyone could remotely consider that to be be Republican.

That's how we got Obama elected - we put aside our personal beefs and pet issues for the greater good. We shouldn't let that dissolve - we're so much more effective when we work together, and can get a lot more accomplished, than by being at each other's throats or trying to put what we want above everything else.
The Republicans thrive on our disunity. We're not lock-step, hive-minded like they are, purging the party of everyone who doesn't toe the line; we actually HAVE the big tent, with people from different ends of political spectrum, with different agendas and causes. And that is a good thing.
Disagreement and debate are one thing. Fighting and sniping are another.

the kiddies who keep screaming about "drama" and "attention whore" and "she will sabotage him" are the ugly little vipers you want to throw off the back of a speeding pick up.
