Bill WILL keep his mouth shut
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 12:00 PM by mkultra
regarding the concern over what Bill might say and any potential conflicts he might create for Hillary as SOS, let me say this:

We have seen in the past that Bills strength has always been his ability to speak directly, clearly, and elegantly. In the primary cycle, i think Bill surprised alot of us by letting his mouth run free regarding Obama. It seemed clear to me that he was doing what any man would do, protect his wife.

I know one thing for sure, no matter how diplomatic the setting or how important the circumstance, I am likely to become angry if I feel that my wife is being disrespected(in this case by the media).

What I'm saying, as odd as it may sound, is that Bill's asinine behavior was chivalric in nature and probably confined to the primary competition.

In summary, Obama is turning a controversy into his advantage by eliminating the problem ground between them and using their talents. Hillary can turn her snarky whiplash on the republicans and Bill's international reputation will be the wind in her sails.

In case your curious about my bias, i think anyone who knows me will know that i was chanting Obama'08 in 2004 and my love for the Clinton's took a serious nose dive in the primaries. I still dont like her much but i recognize skills when i see them.

I say, full speed ahead captain Obama!

2. Let's hope so
Mr. Nazarbayev walked away from the table with a propaganda coup, after Mr. Clinton expressed enthusiastic support for the Kazakh leader’s bid to head an international organization that monitors elections and supports democracy. Mr. Clinton’s public declaration undercut both American foreign policy and sharp criticism of Kazakhstan’s poor human rights record by, among others, Mr. Clinton’s wife, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

5. Wait till the hearings when GOP turns around and makes Bill's Dubai dealings the focal point
of all things fascist the same way they made Whitewater the ONLY focus of the S&L crisis.

I wonder if BushInc will be able to control all its GOP senators on that committee?

And...How sad that Obama will need to tap Kerry to support and defend the Clintons on a SoS appointment when they always sided with BushInc against Kerry and his work.

10. Kerry is putting a lot of TRUST in Obama in hopes he WILL be a transformational figure.
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 03:54 PM by blm
I just hope that transformation extends to the opening of government.

BTW - Kerry is nowhere near a follower. He struck out on his own and against most his party and the entire DC powerstructure on a number of matters - serious matters. If not for Kerry's focus and determination there would never have been an uncovering of IranContra, unraveling of BCCI or revelations of CIA drugrunning. The Fascists would be in their second decade of FULL POWER by now without Kerry leading the investigations in the senate.

12. so chivalric - esp when he said she
said she faced sniper fire in Bosnia because she was old and tired. Now, find me ONE woman who thinks that was chivalric.

14. what women think on this is meaningless
what matters is what the male perspective of chivalry might be. In that view, defending your wife from ANYTHING is chivalric, even if you fail to due so well.

17. hehe
you know, when i started writing it, it i thought, "thats not work." Then i thought it would be an interesting test of the waters.

Thank you for your kind correction and allow me to restate.

I think that men and women may at times have a differing view of the meaning of chivalry. For many men, this means blind fidelity to your woman for outward facing events. This may occur even when its clear that your woman is wrong or you may carry it so poorly that you look like a fool in the process. Neither of these things matter in this view of chivalry. I believe this may have been what effected Bill so seriously in the primary. Either that or Porphyria.
