Idiot anti-Obama fundie pastor in Kansas gets owned by CNN's Rick Sanchez |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 02:23 PM by harry_pothead
The pastor put up an anti-Obama sign on his church front calling Obama a muslim. The controversy attracted the MSM, and the pastor agreed to do an interview with CNN. Rick Sanchez makes him look like an idiot. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2008/11/20/nr.sanchez.preacher.sign.cnnWhat a maroon. Reason#21987693 I'm glad I'm an atheist.

2. Can't watch the video now, because I'm getting a shitty connection |
|
But I saw enough of it to ask the following rhetorical question......
Even if Obama WERE a Muslim (which he isn't) how exactly would it be a "sin against God" for him to be President?
I seem to remember the Bible implying that while God doesn't directly intervene in elections, those who serve in such positions do so by His will. Though I refuse to believe the stolen elections of 2000 and 2004 would meet that criteria, since "thou shalt not steal" is in God's Top Ten List.

and racism.
Read a book, preferably something other than the bible.
And, he's an asshole on the Constitution as well. The CASE LAW that has been made by the SCOTUS that further defines and expands the Constitution AS IT WAS MEANT TO DO has the full force of the Constitution itself, and in many rulings, the Justices of the SCOTUS have used the phrase "separation of church and state" in those decisions, which effectively puts the words into the living document that is the Constitution.

5. The guy was an uninformed, reactionary dumbass........... |

But you have to hand one thing to him, he was persistent: Even in the face of direct quotes from the framers of this country saying there is separation of church and state, this guy stuck to his ignorant guns.

12. Sanchez could've done an even better job imo |
|
First, the pastor was arguing that Obama's beliefs were not "Christian" beliefs as the pastor sees them. After Sanchez pointed out that Obama's beliefs were consistent with those expressed by Pope John Paul and by Billy Graham, he should've asked whether the pastor believed that anyone who didn't ascribe to "Christian beliefs" as the pastor understood them was a "muslim" -- is Billy Graham a muslim? Is the Pope a "Muslim"? Are Jews really "Muslims"? Even if the pastor believe Obama doesn't ascribe to CHristian beliefs, how does that make him a muslim?
Second, Sanchez could've crushed the pastor by pointing out a provision of the constitution that the pastor seems to have ignored: Article VI, which provides that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." In light of this language, how can the pastor claim, as he appeared to be doing, that having someone who isn't christian as president is inconsistent with the constitution?
