NBC: Secretary of Commerce = BILL RICHARDSON!
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/11/21/1685124.aspx

"Also expected Monday -- an announcement that former U.N. Ambassador and Energy Secretary in the Clinton administration, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, will be Commerce Secretary."

Waiting with bated breath to find out what's wrong with THIS choice.

We cannot tolerate these anticidests in our government. What's wrong with Obama? :argh:

7. What's wrong? He supports NAFTA, GATT and the WTO
Although I doubt Obama could find a "credible" person who doesn't. On the positive side, his more detailed remarks about trade show a real commitment to enforcing "fair" trade rather than "free" trade, including labor protections and looking at the real components of each nation's competitiveness. So around the margins, his positions are pretty good. I'll give him a B+, even though nobody asked me and probably nobody cares.

That aside, I can see why he'd want this post. Richardson is essentially out of room to grow. He's term-limited in his current job, and both Senate seats are filled by Dems (and figure to be for awhile). I think tapping him for a cabinet job is great. I'm just glad they didn't relegate him back to the UN.

8. Poor widdle Bill.
He thought by tossing Hillary under the bus, he'd secure V.P. or AT LEAST Secretary of State. Now he's relegated to a totally news-UNworthy cabinet position. I just love me some karmic justice!:rofl::rofl:

10. I'm very happy about the team.
I'm especially happy about those who have to sit on the back bench. :D

11. I'm neutral between Clinton and Richardson, having supported Obama over both of them, but...
if you think that Commerce won't be a huge player in our ongoing financial crisis, think again. If there's a time to be in that job, it's now.

Also, you're being divisive. But you probably knew that already.
