So, what happens to Gen. Wesley Clark and Susan Rice?
Is there any place in the Obama Administration for them? I think they are both brilliant. What about Zbigniew Brzezinski?

2. I think Brzezinski is too old school. They may use him if they ever decide to create some commissio...
or something.

4. I'd love to see both of them
in the Obama administration. I was hoping for Clark as SOS, but that didn't work out.

Both of them seem to have fallen off the radar. I haven't heard anything about either one of them. other than Clark is one the board of some Canadian energy company.

9. Yes, I do worry about her
I really want to see her in the administration. But I'm not sure it'll happen right now, esp. if Hillary's at State.

If only she'd told that reporter it was "off the record" PRIOR to calling Hillary a monster.

15. I'm sure she's doing fine
She may not get a seat at the table but I'm sure she's in a think tank somewhere.

18. I'd like to see her in the administration, though
She was a top prospect for National Security Adviser prior to the whole "monster" flap.

6. Dr. Rice is currently a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor for the President elect
and will most certainly be part of his administration:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/07/us/politics/06rice.html

A top foreign policy post, possibly deputy national security adviser or ambassador to the United Nations. Is a co-leader of the Obama transition team's policy working group on national security.

7. Rice will probably get a relatively big role
My guess is she'll be UN Ambassador, but Deputy NSA is also a possibility.

Given that she's chairing Obama's foreign policy transition team, it would be shocking for her not to rewarded with a fairly significant job. And she'll probably be in line to Secretary of State to Obama in a second term (should he win one).

10. Obama threw Clark under the bus
So, I don't think he's going to get one of the key jobs.

19. He didn't, ever. I don't think people generally understand what that phrase means.
Obama has a lot of people to select from among. But he's never spoken a word again Clark. It's totally not his style to burn bridges--perhaps even a fault of his when you think about Lieberman's treatment.

Clark is pretty well respected and may yet get a nice slot in the administration. But appointed Clinton to SecState will take the wind out of the appointive sails for many of her top name supporters. Clark will remain a voice in the party no matter what--he's going to be very busy either inside or outside the administration.

17. I Voted For Obama
But yes, he did throw Clark under the bus. Clark spoke the truth to schiefer on FTN, and that was that. I don't regret my vote, at all, but I really wish Obama would have said something positive on Clark's behalf. I wonder if there's hard feelings between the two. I hope not. Clark would be an asset to Obama and his administration, just as he has already been to this country and the world. He has done an awful lot for Dems. He expects nothing for it. I actually think he's happy to serve this country any way he can. It doesn't have to be all about him, and it isn't. He knows that. That's my Wes, all patriot, no act.

22. Again, it's not "throwing under the bus" if you *don't* say anything.
Obama has never bad mouthed Clark or let him take the blame for anything. Staying silent is not a bus-toss.

I'm a hardcore Clarkie and was very disappointed when the general (a) didn't run for the nomination and (b) backed Clinton. But Obama has never done squat to him. Not giving someone a job offer yet is not exactly letting them come to career danger, which is what "thrown under the bus" actually means.

11. That is an open question that I posted this morning with no interest whatsoever.
Who will Hillary bring with her at State and will she include former Obama advisers? Not necessarily Brzezinski, who is quite old, but younger ones. I guess we will see. The idea of seeing Holbrooke, James Rubin, or O'Hanlon at state does not enthuse me though.

Though I'm sure if Obama asked, Clark would be happy to step in and help out.
