Franken is now down by only 115 votes on the recount
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 11:12 PM by Hokie
I checked tonight's update at the Minnesota Secretary of State site for the official numbers. Coleman has a net loss of -540 votes compared with a net loss for Franken of -440 votes. Since Franken started the recount behind by 215 votes he is now only behind by 115. The challenged vote totals are by Coleman 747 and by Franken 778. So far, 60.86% of the votes have been recounted and the areas that have been recounted favored Coleman by 42.4% to 40.8%. The remaining areas to be recounted will be from areas that slightly favored Franken. Franken could still be leading when the recount is done even before the challenged ballots are examined. There are so many challenged ballots that it is likely that those will determine the ultimate winner.

Here is the site: http://electionresults.sos.state.mn.us/20081104/SenateRecount.asp

I downloaded the precinct totals to do some of the calculations.

1. Co-Senators!
They should agree now that if the difference is with 10 votes, they will serve as co-Senators.

6. Al Franken will win, it's been obvious to me since pre-Election Day
A week prior to the election I knew Franken would remove Norm Coleman, it's unfortunate that it's come to this almost torturous recount process, but Franken will prevail.

Now if only Jim Martin can remove that POS Saxby Chambliss, we can have our 60 Senate seats :)

25. I agree, but I think it will be extremely close.
A mere handful of votes.

I'm just happy that not only did I send money to Franken, but I convinced my friends to as well.

9. The wild card is who has been more frivolous in challenging
I suspect that early on it was Coleman but Franken's folks really picked up the pace today in challenges.

I am not sure why the Star Tribune site and the MN SoS have different totals. The Star Trib shows more challenges for each also.

Edited on Sat Nov-22-08 11:10 AM by Hokie
They have already been named. Two R's, two D's and one Ind. They were appointed by the MN Sec. of State. Minnesota has good rules on judging "voter intent". If we only had this system in place in Florida in 2000 Al Gore would be finishing his second highly successful term as President. Sigh....

26. Horse teeth up by 138, not looking good
Coleman has a MANDATE. :sarcasm:

Every state should have a runoff if no majority is achieved, especially races where the Indy gets 15% of the friggin vote!
