Durbin: Chicago prosecutor has his full support

By MIKE ROBINSON | Associated Press Writer
5:04 PM CST, November 21, 2008

CHICAGO - Sen. Dick Durbin said Friday he will recommend another term for corruption-busting federal prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald if he wants to stay on as Chicago's U.S. attorney.

Durbin told a news conference that he first wants to sit down with the city's top federal prosecutor and ask him what he wants in the future. Asked if he would recommend that President-elect Barack Obama renominate Fitzgerald, Durbin said: "Yes."

"I think he has done an extraordinary job as U.S. attorney; I have the greatest confidence in him," Durbin said. "I want to do what he wants to do, I want to support what he wants to do and I won't presume what that is." ...

Fitzgerald was not very successful in the Plame case, but he has done a lot to clean up IL politics including dirty dems. Watch the news our governor is going to be indicted soon.

3. I'd rather have him in Chicago.
He still has a lot of work to do.

2. Blago may end up sharing a cell with George Ryan.
I don't know if it is a matter of Durbin liking Fitz or Durbin disliking Blago. Either way, sounds to me like Rod is in for some tough times ahead and Quinn better figure out how to re-decorate the Governor's Mansion. (It has been HOW long since anyone actually lived in it????)

Sure does make for an interesting Primary this next time.
