Who should take Hillary's senate seat?
Andrew Cuomo is my first choice.

1. Cuomo is the most likely pick but not the best
Paterson would probably be happy to pack Cuomo off to Washington to avert a Cuomo v. Paterson gubernatorial primary in 2010.

On the merits, however, New York has several excellent Representatives who would be better Senators. My pick would be Jerry Nadler. He might be seen as too far left, though, and Paterson would also see some merit in not naming someone from NYC, given the concentration of NYC people in other state offices. An upstate Representative like Nita Lowey or Maurice Hinchey would be a good choice.

BTW, shouldn't this be on the New York board?

3. I certainly hope that Andy Cuomo does not shuck and jive his way into the senate.

4. He might be the next Governor of NY
He seems to be holding down the AG office pretty good so far.

I'd like to see Pete Seeger appointed to the Senate. If McCain can pick Palin, Paterson should pick Pete Seeger!

I would like to see Paterson appoint an upstate liberal, a young up comer... Perhaps Joe Ruggerio or Joel Tyner from Dutchess county...Or Big Mo Hinchey (Congressman)..
If Paterson wanted to shake things up he might consider appointing millionaire Tom Gallisono to the seat. kickback!
perhaps RFKjr , Carl McCall (if he was up for it - not sure how old he is), or former Mayor David Dinkens.

There would be some serious changes and it wouldn't be a role that went unnoticed a lot of what needs to be done is awareness.

11. I think Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. would generate a hell of a lot of excitement
if he were chosen.

Absent that first personal choice, I'm flexible, but I'd welcome any reliably blue vote to our current majority, and someone who could make a very convincing run in 2010 for the seat, and hold it for a long time.

16. Assuming the seat is vacated
it should go to the most Liberal candidate available. As should Obama's senate seat, Biden's senate seat, Emanuel's house seat and any other that may open up as a result of this election. No DLC'ers in any of these seats.
