Goodall prevails in recount

By Susan M. Cover November 21, 2008 04:57 PM

Democrat Seth Goodall of Richmond increased his margin of victory following a recount Friday in the state Senate District 19 race.

Goodall defeated incumbent Sen. Paula Benoit, R-Phippsburg, by 163 votes, according to unofficial recount totals.

Goodall will be one of 20 Democrats sworn-in to the Senate Dec. 3. Republicans hold 15 seats.

The GOP took a thumping this year in Maine.

2. I would bet if every race was recounted
the Dems would pick up a lot more seats nationwide.

6. This is the Maine State Senate, but we've got 58 nationally.
Franken/Coleman and Martin/Chambliss are undecided.
