My buddy says Wes Clark has gotten an appointment to the admin.
But I hadn't heard about it.

Anybody know if she's right?

1. Haven't heard but hope it is true.
Who better to serve others than the most qualified souls?

Wes Clark is a damned smart cookie and we can sure use as many of those as can be summoned.

2. Does your friend have an inside track? I don't think anything has
been announced nor seen any rumors yet... I hope it is true.

33. No, she doesn't have an inside track at all. I really think she mis-heard.
She's a good Democrat and extremely intelligent but I think she's a bit stressed right now (she's a Senior VP at Citi and it's gotta be a rough time).

26. He is retired and no longer eligible for JC

More likely that he would take over from Gates after Gates leaves.

5. I haven't heard it
I still belong to a national group of Wes supporters and haven't heard a thing. I hope it's true.

I was hoping to see him as SOS or NSA but those seem to be taken. Well, we shall see.

7. HA! Give up hope on that happening!

Where the hell will Wes Clark be appointed if NSA, SOS, and SOD (impossible for him until 2010) are all taken?

You mean to say, as a former Clarkie 2004, I was fooled to think this man would be part of the new leadership?

Well, DAMN. I guess I was fooled, wasn't I? Especially by you, General!

No more passion OR money for candidates for me. EVER!

It's all theater and trickery.

And while I'm at it, is Samantha Power part of the Obama team again?

Or have Bill and Hillary already called all the shots for foreign policy?

I voted for Obama's foreign policy platform, not the Clintonians.' Clark opposed IWR, unlike Hillary, so don't argue he is a Clintonian on foreign policy.

18. Both Clark and Power are experts in NSA, foreign policy. . .
. . .not to mention Susan E. Rice, are all wasted talent if not appointed at all or to ENERGY???

Are you aware of their education/experience in foreign policy?

If not then, Google 'em.

I'm to believe all three don't want appointments and would much rather do all the brainy planning as low-level staff behind-the-scenes to hand over to Hillary as SOS or General Jones as NSA chief?

Oh, well. .so much for fresh, new leadership on the Obama Team!

23. Wes would be a great Energy Secretary
He would bring strategic and organizational brilliance to a position at the head of what is now one of the top four issues. He is an expert in the field which he has been working in for years now. He is not all about military and foreign affairs, despite his deep experience in both. Energy is a critical national security matter and he has said so. I have no idea if this is coming, but I think you are very wrong in your assessment of both the wide-ranging talents and abilities he offers the new government and in the significance of that particular office if it ends up to be his.

The only list I saw him on fairly recently was one by Reuters for Energy.

Obama's supposed to be releasing his national security team Monday, though, so maybe we'll get lucky and have Wes out there for us again.

30. The more I think about Energy
The more it looks like a good fit for Wes Clark.

I was just reading Obama's radio address from this morning:

Here is text and video

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/11/22/105213/85/22/665098

I have already directed my economic team to come up with an Economic Recovery Plan that will mean 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011 – a plan big enough to meet the challenges we face that I intend to sign soon after taking office. We’ll be working out the details in the weeks ahead, but it will be a two-year, nationwide effort to jumpstart job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy. We’ll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms and solar panels; fuel-efficient cars and the alternative energy technologies that can free us from our dependence on foreign oil and keep our economy competitive in the years ahead.

These aren’t just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis; these are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long. And they represent an early down payment on the type of reform my Administration will bring to Washington – a government that spends wisely, focuses on what works, and puts the public interest ahead of the same special interests that have come to dominate our politics.

It occurs to me that the new factory Clark opened in Arkansas to build parts for wind energy technology fits in with Obama's overall direction and immediate jump-start for economic recovery through alternative energy jobs and energy independence.

We'll see.

But even in better times she has a client load to tend to. Right now, she's probably just trying to keep clients from jumping out of windows...

Obama has been appointing a lot of candlepower so far, and Wes Clark, and
Howard Dean, are the two big names I am still waiting to see named for
spots deserving of their talents and commitment.

Its most likely a return to active duty and an important military role.

Generals can be reactivated if necessary.
