Maybe the right wing was on to something about us Obama supporters... |
|
...that many of us were so absolutely convinced that this one guy was the great liberal hope we waited on for so long, he was bound to let some of us down eventually.
I just didn't think the Great Bumming Out, the cataclysmic crashing of sky-high expectations, would take place only two weeks after a landslide election, is all.

I'm simply overwhelmed by it.
A little background: I worked for the campaign all through the summer. The guy didn't disappoint me then. He earned my trust, and he still has it.
Maybe it's different for an older generation, but we young 'uns who pounded the pavement and spent thousand of man-hours on this thing aren't going to turn wishy-washy before the guy even takes office.
We are waiting to see what he does when he takes office--then we'll pass judgement, but not before. Screw the naysayers. They were absolutely wrong then, and they're probably just as wrong now.

I'm curious...why? You don't thinking that appointing Summers to one of the top economic posts in this country is relevant just because Obama isn't President yet? And that's just one of at least a handful of Obama picks that have left me scratching my head going WTF.

7. Dude, he was on Obama's economic team throughout his campaign. |

What made you think that after Obama was elected, Larry Summers wouldn't get some job? You're just fooling yourself. These people have been around him all along, and you're only upset now?
Not to mention, they're smart people who are pragmatic and will get the job done. If you expected starry-eyed ideologues, you obviously weren't paying attention this entire campaign season. All he's doing now is keeping his promises of assembling an extremely smart team and reaching out to his opponents.

and apparently he doesn't know how centrist Democrats think so he has put some of them in his cabinet to make sure he gets information he may not already have or have access to. That's all I can figure.

And I know that just by electing a highly intelligent man with a basic sense of decency, we've got that much, so I'll keep partying if the naysayers don't mind.
I look forward to seeing what he's really going to do. I've read 'The Audacity of Hope' and in a lot of ways, it's a nostalgic book - he wants to bring back an era of statesmen(and women) that probably never existed but potentially could if enough people of good will were willing to put in the long hours arguing respectfully to hash it out.
The one thing that struck me most, that he wants to return to politics so badly, is PATIENCE. Which is a virtue I admire highly and struggle to achieve all the time. Our national affairs should not be conducted on a pace with the hormonal emotions of an ADD 12-year-old - that kind of thinking is part of the problem and cannot be part of the solution.

two months before he takes office and already he's the worst president elect ever! Anybody who has brains could have seen this coming...who does he think he is,trying to improve things?

This hand wringing is interesting. Some here will be calling for impeachement by January 5, 2009.

I don't get worked up over this cabinet BS. It really doesn't mean much. Though, I think many of his picks have been solid.
