Last night I went to a party...
a get together with all of our local volunteers from the primary and GE campaigns. We had so much fun. Good food, good drinks, good conversation, lots of cheerful recollection of our times together thus far, and a group of people who have become fast friends and contacts. This kind of event just simply was not possible in our formerly red county even three years ago. We decided that every couple of months we would continue to have social get togethers and stay in touch in the mean time by phone and e-mail. Some of these people would never have travelled in the same social networks before. We remain committed to making what we struggled so hard to achieve this election work for the nation. There is work to be done and we very much want to share the load as a community.

After reading some of the threads on DU that apparently cropped up while I was out, I just wanted to say that all of this work should not have been in vain. There is serious work to be done now and it has barely started. Let's remember what got us here and put our shoulders to the wheel once more. Surely we can find the sweet spot for change and move the nation forward together.

1. Moveon is continuing to organize
There was a Fired Up event Thursday. About half the people there were from the campaign. I didn't figure out where the others had hidden themselves for the last 6 months. But it was nice to see everybody again. Next time there's a Fired Up event, I'll make sure and post it. They're having people take pictures of standing with Obama on various issues, and then they're buying ad space in D.C. during the inauguration. Buses, billboards, I don't know where all. But it sounds like a nice idea to see pictures of people from all over the country standing with Obama.

3. LOL! You just prompted me to recall that Obama was at our party...
at least a life size cardboard cutout of him was standing by the fireplace. It is just great to see all the goodwill that this campaign has brought about and the bonds that have been forged. Those bonds are how the healing of this nation will be achieved. Now is the time to make them stronger while the work is done.

5. Excellent! Educate, agitate, organize...
Excellent!

Educate, agitate, organize and party-down for continued progress!

We have the chance to be winners right now, but it's gonna take work. The election was only step 1.
