MTP Video: Lieberman "declines to offer apology" for attacks on Obama when pressed by Tom Brokaw
Lieberman: No apology for attacks on Obama

Although Sen. Joe Lieberman said he regretted some of his attacks on President-elect Barack Obama during the campaign, he declined to offer an apology when pressed by NBC's Tom Brokaw.

The senator said many unfair statements were made about both Obama and Sen. John McCain, and that he is only one of many people who feel regret for the tone of the election.

"I do regret as I said to the caucus and afterward publically, there were some things I said in the heat of the campaign that I wish I had said more clearly. Other things, frankly, I wish I hadn't said at all," Lieberman said. "That happens to all of us in the heat of it campaign but nonetheless, I regret it and I want to move forward."

Brokaw pressed Lieberman for an apology: "I heard word 'regret' but not the word 'apology.'"

"You can take from the word regret what you will," Lieberman said.

Though Lieberman's party considered ejecting him from the Democratic caucus for negatively campaign against Obama and backing McCain, the President-elect made it clear he wanted Lieberman to stay.

Addressing that "spirit of reconciliation," Brokaw asked Lieberman if he thought McCain would "work closely with Obama" to "heal the partisan divide."

Lieberman was "convinced" that he would.

"I'm convinced John McCain will play a leadership role in bringing people together across party lines," Lieberman said.

1. I hate my party
I just hate the other party more. We are the most spineless stand for nothing bunch of idiots around. What is remarkable is that the other side is so stuffed with hate filled sub-morons that they actually manage to lose elections to our idiots.

13. Yep, I only mostly remember him telling us what he'd do regarding the middle class and assured a tax
cut. Those over 250,000 he didn't pledge anything much really.

5. I'm sure this isn't the interview Lieberman thought he'd be having.
I suspect if he'd been punished the way people here wanted he'd be dominating the airwaves with the cruel tales of the mean ol' Dems and how he is a martyr for his convictions. I like it better this way. My .02

7. I can't wait till 2010....I'll be contributing to the real Dem in that election...
I hope you all will join me. And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Lieberman's comments about the nation being in danger with Obama will be played endlessly in campaign commercials.

12. Don't Talk To Me About Pragmatism And Forgiveness

This little weasel should have been strung up by his balls on the Senate floor. He'll be back whoring for the Republican candidate in 2012, and why shouldn't he? There's no punishment for his treason.......

23. Yeah, it's just typical joeschmuck behavior..
nothing new. But, he's just a pawn who's useful now. Like Ned Lamont said.."lieberman has a habit of whining and Obama doesn't need the distraction now".

Tiny paraphrasing.

This is not a trick question.

21. Fellow DU friends
Seriously, Obama is playing Lieberman and many don't get it.

If Obama would have said kick the back stabbing bastard out because he betrayed the Dem party it would have given Lieberwhore more life and more supporters. Obama took Lieberwhores only weapon and turned it on him by offerring the olive branch...

Here is the good part....

Have patience....Lieberwhore slipped up today when he admitted out loud that Obama hasn't been returning his calls.

See he can't help himself....Lieberwhore is Lieberwhore and this is what he does...again he can't help himself.

Lieberwhore thinks that he is going to skate through 2009 as if nothing happened.....it's not going to go the way he wants.

Before January 20th Lieberwhore will make such a huge gaff and show how he took the olive branch and mocked it.

Be patient.....it's coming...he simply can't help himself.
