I'm happy with President-elect Obama.
I supported Obama because I wanted a president who would bring an end to the war in Iraq, do something about Global Warming, implement Universal Healthcare, support science, and shut down Gitmo. In the days since his election, he has reaffirmed his commitment to doing all of these. I don’t care if he appoints the corpse of Ronald Reagan to his cabinet just as long as he delivers on his campaign promises. Obama’s given me no reason to believe that he won’t, or he’s so weak willed that he’s easily swayed by those around him who have differing views. I haven’t been focused on who he’s appointing, but what policies he’s committing to. To me, that’s what’s really important, and (so far) I haven’t been disappointed.

14. Sure.
My post wasn't a criticism of anyone, I just wanted to post my opinion on what I want to see from Obama.

12. well said....
there is so much positive to concentrate on here with this Pres-Elect...

in addition to agreeing with the reasons you supported Barack...I add:
revamp education, support labor workers, bring back middle class,
rebuild infrastructure, promote green technology, help reduce global warming,
not be beholden to lobbyists, change political structure in WA DC, work toward
equality for all, promote family involvement, citizen involvement in government...
transparency in government...the list goes on. What's not to like?
Focus on the Big Picture!

15. Yes, that's what we all wanted, and why we all voted for him.
Unfortunately for all of us, none of those things are his first priority.

Ah, to borrow a phrase... "it's the economy, stupid".

And not like the one Bill Clinton inherited from Daddy Bush and that dead guy in Obama's cabinet. No, this one is much more like the economy inherited by FDR from that other ignoramus republican, Herbert Hoover. And to fix it, Obama is going to need to do some real magic. And to keep it fixed, he is going to need to totally and completely reject Milton Friedman economics. Friedman economics is to our economy as PNAC was to our foreign policy.

Frankly, I don't know how he is going to pull it off.

But I know that Robert Rubin and Larry Summers are not the answer. The markets may like them, but that's because the markets are dominated by idiots that don't look past the end of the next quarter. Or in this case, the end of the trading session.

We need to drive a stake into the heart of Friedman economic theory... and that means a clean sweep of the whole lot of them, Greenspan, Paulson, Rubin, Summers, etc, etc. What about that guy who was on Faux noise for the last two years predicting this whole collapse while Ben Stein and other wingnuts openly laughed at him? Can't remember his name, but he called it very accurately from two years ago. Or even Krugman. We need people like this advising our new President, not the same old names from the past.

Listen, if it was JUST the list you named, I have no worries. I would add to that list a repeal of the Patriot Acts and MCA and all other things that the current asshole-in-chief rammed down our throats. I would even add that we now need to undo the Dept of Homeland Security (and eliminate that unfortunate name). Not that some reorganization is needed, but what they built is a nightmare.

But all of those things, plus the ones you mention, are not the top priority right now.

19. I am too!
I don't believe Obama will be perfect or that I will agree with him 100% of the time but I do believe in giving him a chance! He's not even been sworn in yet but it seems some people are intent on declaring his presidency a dud before it has even begun!

25. I'm pretty happy too...
I'm not thrilled with the (prospective) choice of Clinton as SoS, but he seems to be putting the most brilliant and accomplished folks he can find in his Cabinet and looking to implement some aggressive and much needed domestic policies soon after taking office.

That's a big  for me....
