Poll question: If Franken loses the recount byjust a few votes, he could take it to the Senate Floor |
|
In theory, the Senate could refuse to certify Coleman as the victor because the nuber of indetermiante balllots exceeded the margin of victory. Given the number of ballot challenges and the the margin, the canvassing board is going to have their work cut out for them. There is also a question of some rejected absentee ballots which were apprarently not counted initially.
The question is in the absence of "apparent" errors in the decisions of the duly empowered Canvassing Board as they go through the challenged ballots, should the Senate refuse to certify an election?

1. I think if the Senate did that, it would be a huge issue in the 2010 midterms |

IF a couple of republican moderates can be lured to work with the majority, then you are right. Pulling out all the stops to gain one only to lose those prospects makes no sense. But on the other hand, if it is going to come dome to just raw numbers and we're in for two years of Obama being unable to get things done, then I say take no prisoners.
