It because of them we're in the mess we're in today. Fuck 'em! They lost and are marginalized.
But leave it to Gallup to dredge this up and so soon after the GOP lost--big time!

That's why I don't think Palin will be the nominee.
Look, we know she's unelectable, and I'm willing to be the higher ups in the republican party do as well. A lot of Palin supporters complained the RNC was trying to ruin her political career after the election, and for once, I agree with them.

Look at his suck-up support of McCain. The two men detested one another. Romney knows that if he can only get on the 2012 ticket, he'll be the natural frontrunner for 2016.

That's a bit surprising considering he's such a rising star and ticks all the right fundie boxes. It can't be an inexperience thing, they all want Palin to run.
I think its pretty telling that 61% don't want to see Jeb Bush run. I have to laugh at Jeb's political future getting screwed over by his brother's performance.

|
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 12:02 PM by galaxy21
I don't think a Mormom could ever get elected. And yeah I know people used to say 'well a black guy can nevere get elected' but that's a different thing entirely.
I think Mormomisn is still seen as a cult by a lot of people and a lot of people are going to have issues with that. Democrats probably wouldn't be that bothered by it, because they tend to be less religious but considering how religious many on the right are...he'd have a difficult time getting the nomination, quite franky. A lot of republicans complained about him flip flopping, but I think that was probably just an excuse because they couldn't vote for a Mormon.

he told me that he almost ran against an incumbent here in Va but his wife didn't want to go through it
Anyway-he told me that the conventional wisdom (this is from the money side of the Dem party) that Romney was McCain's best chance. The Chamber of Commerce and the business world would have thrown money towards getting Romney in there.
I personally don't think that having a second generation CEO on the ticket now would have been a great idea but that was what he said was the insider opinion of Romney.

She exemplifies everything that is wrong with the current Repub Party, and as long as she is the top choice there won't be any 'coming together' within the Repub Party nor any reaching out to independents/unaffiliated moderates which would be needed to win an election.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that she stays on top...

I'll be honest, I did feel a little sorry for her when I heard the RNC were sending someone to get back all the clothes and she had to sort through all her clothes and the kids clothes to figure out which were thers. How embaressing.
This woman seems to have a constant need for attention that needs to be fufilled. Its like she spend 8 weeks being told she was the greatest thing ever and being built up and now she has to go back to Alaska as a national joke. I don't know if I blame her or the people that put her in that position. I mean, she was probably too dumb to know better and genuinely thought she was ready to be president.
From a humane point of view: I really would love it if she just accepted she didn't have a future in national politics and stuck to being governer of Alaska and being there for her kids more.

I read last night that she has received over 800 requests from all over the country for personal appearances through the end of next year. It doesn't leave her much time for governing her "beloved" state. It's left to Alaskans to continue to point out her many weaknesses, and hopefully it will sink in on the national level that she is not now and never has been ready for national consideration for anything.

I'm not sure about the official figures, but he didn't do well at all with them in the primaries.
I think they'll talk about appointing a fundie, but in they end they'll play it safe and nominate a moderate. Which is probablyt worse for Barack's re-election chances. Although he's probably going to win regardless.

|
I just don't think he'll turn them off as much as Palin did this year.
I don't see them going with a moderate. Mitt Romney is the only candidate that could pass for a moderate and I don't think he'll do well. His comments that we should let the US auto companies go bankrupt will hurt his chances in Michigan and other rust belt states. These are the states where his "economic strength" may have worked for him in the primaries.

Way to make our job in 4 years that much easier  I guess my second choice on that note would be Huckabee, though he is more likeable than her, IMHO anyway (on the surface, of course. Once you get into his agenda, that quickly changes..) Or better yet...Jeb, though I doubt they'd be dumb enough to run another Bush so relatively soon (I think it'll be decades before anyone with that name or directly associated with him will be able to be taken seriously in politics again. You saw what it did to McCain, so just imagine..).
