Obama's inauguration - availability?

I want to go to Obama's inauguration but I don't have a ticket. Is it true that there are no hotels in DC, Maryland and WV that week? If you don't have a ticket, is it worth going (how close will you be), and how early should you get there.

How many people are expected to be there?

2. We are staying in the country - Northern VA. Still places

that are reasonable. It is 23 miles to Fairfax - first metro stop to DC.

Yes, it will definitely be worth it. There will be no way that can run 4-5 million people through security or collect
tickets. They didn't even collect tickets at Clinton's where there were only a small fraction of what's expected
for this one.

What I envision is the mall being full with millions of revelers. Should be a once in a lifetime experience !!
