I just don't give a damn about the opinions of these people anymore.
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 03:31 PM by Mark E. Smith
I was just listening to some NPR political discussion
show (has some yapper named Larry Mantle - no relation
to The Mick I guess), and the big topic of the morning
was if Barack Obama had abandoned his promise of Change
by bringing in people who have had previous on the
job White House experience. In particular former Clinton
*gasp* administration officials.

Now my immediate thought was that if you would bring in
anyone competent and capable it would be a marked
improvement and 'change' from the half-asses the Bush
administration had hanging around Washington these
last 8 years. And that one of the better sources for
competence coupled with experience would be the Clinton
admin.

But the callers started ringing in, and would you know
these adenoidal sounding nitwits began prattling about
betrayal and broken promises and the rest of the crap
you not only read from some folks on DU, but can also
hear from Rush Limbaugh if you have the stomach to tune
in.

Personally I am glad Barack Obama is bringing in the
seasoned vets, people who could actually know what it
is they're supposed to be doing. And honestly I have to
wonder what the problem is, especially with those who
are supposedly on "our side."

But I have to tell you, I'm personally beyond caring
about those people. If this was at some kind of party
and I found myself overhearing that kind of crap, I'd
be out the door in seconds flat.

I just don't give a damn about the opinions of these
people anymore.

1. You know, I can never recall Obama giving a detailed explanation as to what the "change" might be.
He just left it to the mind of individuals to figure out. Of course, so many had grandiose notions of what he meant by change and that's why they are pissed, but most likely that is their normal state of mind and attitude.

3. What a monumental load of shit
Just because you were too stupid to type www.barackobama.com into your address bar - it doesn't mean everybody else was.

4. That's exactly right. 'change' means different things to different people.

So, the folks here saying that Obama "is more progressive than Feingold" are having their hats handed to them.

Oh well.

6. Illiterate much?

Every time someone said this during the election, I asked if they bothered to download "Blueprint for Chage" from Barackobama.com.

200+ pages.

How much detail were you looking for?

In what respect did you not find that publication to be detailed enough?

Better yet... Did you read it?

Nope. You wanted Sen. Obama to come to your house and read it to you personally, right?

8. I'm talking about change related to appointments where people here are getting all bent out of shape
about. Did Obama promise that he would never appoint people who had served in the Clinton administration because that would not be "change"? Did he ever promise to not appoint Hillary Clinton to anything because that would not be change? Anyone who was DLC? Over and over we read that how dare Obama appoint so and so because that is not the change we were promised.

Oh, and I'm sorry I won't be reading your posts anymore because I won't see them. Just my way of say.... ...

2. Was this a local program? I've been listening to Talk of the Nation all afternoon and didn't
hear anything like that.

7. That seems like a wise tack to take. He's already won the election, all the background yammering
really isn't worth getting all worked up over.

9. NPR has taken on the Homeland Security Dept as a sponsor
http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/107800/theater_of_war:_portrait_of_a_homeland_security_state_%5Bphoto_slideshow_included%5D/?comments=view&cID=1064321&pID=1064263

But big oil, Wal mart and other thugs have been sponsors of NPR.

So we just get our propaganda with either intelligent sounding British accents,
or the nice collegial Connecticut accent.

And that elevator muzak to make us think we are intellectuals for listening to
NPR.

10. "Support for NPR comes from the Department of Homeland Security..."
I heard it myself one morning. Couldn't believe my ears.

"Support for NPR comes from the Department of Homeland Security..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listening to National Public Radio's, "Morning Edition," earlier this week I was jolted out of my morning daze by the words, "Support for NPR comes from the Department of Homeland Security..." followed by phrases touting some program they wanted either people or businesses to sign up for. On the one hand I am happy that some of the money DHS is allocated is at least being used for something that is useful to me instead of it all being wasted on showy schlock. On the other hand, I wonder why this ill-named organisation feels that it needs to advertise. Did anyone else hear this?

12. I wonder if they volunteered?....
I can understand being wary, and I can understand being disappointed. But freaking is just freaky. It's like the alarm bells are ringing all over the place, but for what? What country have they been living in?
