3. So is Bush's recession/depression. All the fault of the mighty mighty Clenis. |
|
Or maybe it's actually Hillary's fault. I can't decide. I'm sure I can find good, compelling evidence that will show me the truth here tonight.
Yeah.

In case you didn't know.
Everything is on a delayed reaction....and could happen as much as nearly a decade after the fact.
Yeah.

9. Oceanliner, doncha know? |
|
Presidentin' is like steering an ocean liner. Once you turn the wheel, it takes eight years for the boat to actually turn. So when Reagan and Bush Daddy were in office and everything sucked eggs, that was really Carter's fault. Reagan was so brilliant that he made everything really good under Clinton, who of course screwed up everything for W. Now W's brilliant plans are going to show up a couple years into Obama's turn, when everything starts going well, and Obama's real steering-stuff isn't going to take effect until the next Republican takes office and everything goes to Hell again.
This doesn't apply to Carter, of course, because he was super-strong, and so when he turned the oceanliner everything happened all at once, so the problems while he was president were all his fault, and not Nixon's or Ford's, whose problems were caused by JFK, LBJ, and FDR, somehow.
You got to take a course on economics so you can be smart like a Freeper. Don't take more than one course, though, because no Freeper has done that. Actually, they haven't taken any courses, but Rush assures them that that's what economics says. The oxicontin told him.

12. Well, seeing that the housing market just collapsed in 2007, |
|
I suppose that yes, Rubin's and Greenspan's push for keeping the derivatives markets unregulated DID take a decade to blow up in our faces. And a big kudos to George W. Bush for allowing his SEC to leverage the stakes 40 to 1.
Seriously: have you taken the time to study this very complex issue? Because to act like the Clinton Administration is BLAMELESS is not realizing what mistakes were made and when.

10. The deregulation of the derivatives market happened under Clinton's watch. |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-25-08 12:12 AM by beachmom
Anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty has to admit that Clinton's policies were PART of the problem that led to this collapse. Now Bush put the unregulated free market on steroids, but to act like it was only the Republican's fault is crap, and shows you haven't studied the issue.
I am sorry if some troll is putting up stupid posts, but it is foolish to go in the other direction and not look at ALL mistakes in the past by either party.

There is plenty of blame to go around. In fact, I think I heard Obama say that the last time he spoke before today.
Hopefully we have a good stewart now, who will make sure that the ship doesn't again run aground.

16. The fact that he didn't go with Rubin was a good sign. |
|
Better yet, he didn't go with a Wall Street person either.
I am more disappointed in what we know about his foreign policy team. But his economic team seems stellar.

18. Maybe so, but you can back to Washington and point out mistakes |
|
that led to problems we are facing now if you want. The fact that BushCo was in charge and did nothing to head off a crisis that everyone has seen coming for five years or more makes him the worst offender. Clinton did some dumbass stuff, and even Carter contributed, but the lighthouse beacon appeared under Bush, and he steered right for it, instead of trying to turn sooner. We face crises like this every administration, and most are handled before they explode.
Not exonerating Clinton or even our own Democratic Congress, just pointing out that the person who let it happen on his watch should not have his blame lessened just because some of the causes of the problem were created under his predecessors.

hate from people he thinks care about his administration and hate from people that are benefiting from the good things I think he'll do. It's sad for me to see such craziness and this "throw in the towel" mentality and he hasn't done anything but try to put together his administration and lay out his plans EARLY for the economy because it's in the fucking tank. Jeez...I could see a year or two down the road maybe being disgruntled but it just seems to be very early for this stuff.

If Mr. Clinton had respect for women and the office he held George bush wouldn't have had a platform to run on. Who knew a blowjob could have caused so much destruction, death and pain.
