Wed Night: Barbara Walters to Interview Barack and Michelle Obama
Sometime in the next 48 hours, President-elect Barack Obama and Michelle Obama will sit down for an interview with Barbara Walters.

The interview will air as a one-hour prime time special Wednesday night at 10pmET/PT.

The interview will focus on the faltering economy, Obama's cabinet picks, the Obama family's move to Washington and if he were a tree what kind of tree he'd be (okay, maybe not that one.)

3. It is being said that they are excellent rating getters......
So I'm thinking we are going to see quite a bit of them doing these more human interviews.....which is fine by me! :)

11. Yep, how awesome is it to have a couple in the White House to adore...
.... and we adore them because of how much they adore one another. ONE of the reasons anyway.

Time for the nose kiss picture again!!!

Can't wait for that one. I seriously expect it, or something equally silly.

5. He should be working 24/7 with his economic advisors, not doing these fake interviews.
We are in a complete crisis. Nobody cares about what school your stupid kids are going to or what kind of ties you like. I can't imagine Barbara Walters asking questions that are any more substantive.

6. Just remember that he didn't have to do the things he's been
doing to help the economy since he's not president yet. They have done one interview with 60mns. There is no problem in sitting down doing one with Walters. I think he's done more in the past few days than the fucking president has since this mess started.

9. Like in the hour that an interview takes, he could save the economy and the world!
Plueaze....if you want to do anything to help the economy, cut Barack some slack.....cause he's gonna need it to save our sorry asses.

Also note that in time of a depression, folks need to have hope and confidence. They ain't gonna get it if we go into panic mode to the point that the new President can't do an hour interview, without someone crying and whining about it....as they worry the rest of us to death.

Half of everything is timing and the bully pulpit. Since everyone needs to listen to Obama, let him market himself while he can....so the really dumb ones will be paying attention when it is required.

12. Stupid kids?
Wow.

I don't want my President working 24/7 on anything. That's a stupid saying. I don't want someone who's punch drunk to make any major decisions regarding our country.

Did you forget your sarcasm smiley? Going on Barbara Walters is a good PR move to help him move his economic agenda forward.

16. Lighten up Frances
I see this interview as helping him achieve his agenda. 46% of voters did not vote for Obama. The majority of Americans don't follow issues closely, many follow whatever talking heads spew in their direction. There will be push-back by republicans on everything that President Obama attempts to accomplish (including saving us from a depression worse than the 1st)--refer back to the Clinton administration for a reminder.

An interview in a widely watched prime-time show will go a long way to remind the public that PE Obama is not the character that the rw tries to paint him as. This interview will renew public approval for PE Obama and give them confidence in the job that he will do as president. This will undermine the rw attempts to sabotage the new administration and gives leverage to PE Obama to go forward with less compromises/watered down policies.

17. disagree....
in order for Barack to pull off what he is attempting to do...
turn around a country that is circling the drain...
he needs the people of the US to be behind him...
he said this over and over again in his stump speeches...
"I cannot do it alone....I'm going to need you to help
...to stay involved, help me get things done".

There's no better way to do that than for folks
to get understanding of who the man is....
and what he stands for...personally as well as politically.

He has tremendous appeal...and definitely should capitalize on it.

what's his favorite color. I just hope babwa doesn't embarrass him and michelle too much. That babwa will embarrass herself, is a given.

20. Good. The more Americans like PE Obama, the more likely Republicans won't obstruct his agenda.
This is a charm offensive to grease the P.R. wheels for tough votes later. Watch for the highest ratings for Baba Wawa ever.
